How old do you have to be to waitress at a bar in california?

Does it really matter if you want to be a waitress in a bar just go apply now and that way if they do not hire until 21 then you will have your app in and maybe they will call you when you turn 21. If you want to be a waitress you could do restaurants instead of bars because from the monetary aspect of the situation you will get more money as a waitress at a restaurant rather than a bar. I work for an accountant who has clients that owns restaurants and bars and I can tell you just from credit card tips which the employer reports are 10 times higher in the restaurant than in a bar.

How old do you have to be in order to work as a waitress in Virginia?

In Virginia, the legal drinking age is 21. To work in a restaurant that serves alcohol, you must be at least 18 years old; to be a bartender, the minimum age is 21.

As long as no alcohol is served there is no restriction as to where you may work once you've hit the age of 16.

In the state of VA, how old do you have to be to serve alchol or work in a bar?

It differs from state to state:

Here in California, you can be a "cocktail waitress" and DELIVER alcohol to patrons, but you cannot WORK behind the bar till you're 21.....

You might want to Google the Virginia ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) department and see what their guidelines are.

Here in California, you can take a booze order and deliver it from the bar TO the customer at 18, but you have to 21+ to SERVE (that means technically, to pour and mix a drink, or pop the top of a bottle of beer.......;))

How old do you have to be to sit at a bar?

I'm pretty sure it depends on the establishment. The VA ABC passed a new law several months ago that a child at a table can legally pass a served alcoholic beverage from one adult to another adult. Not sure about other states or about sitting at the bar. Check the ABC website for your state.
