How Old Is Too Old To Have A Baby

Is 27 too old to have a baby?

Im 27 - gonna be 28 in 6 months. I Do not have any children yet. Ive always been on Birth control and been really careful. I am now ready to have a baby. Am I too old? I want to have one as soon as I can before I become infertile which is a big fear of mine!!

How old is too old to have a baby?

Doctors used to say that 32 was the recommended age for no longer having children
but now, with modern technology the way it is, good prenatal care means its safe to have a child until you're about 40
Granted, the older you are the more difficulties you may run into along the way
ie, trouble conceiving or a higher risk of an autistic or down syndrome child
However, there have been a great many women in recent years who've had positive pregnancies and birthing experiences while in their 30's

another thing to consider-
years ago, we didn't think it mattered how old the father of the baby was
now we know that a father 45+ is about 60% more likely to have a down syndrome child

Is 39 too old to have a baby?

I HOPE NOT! I'm getting near there and don't have any kids yet, but I always wanted at least 1!

As far as advantages go: I'm more mature, more settled, have more patience, have a more stable, secure environment for my child...

Disadvantages: like White Crane said...I'm not so young anymore, so chasing after a toddler is going to be murder, and doing all of the carpooling, and going through all of the emotional rollercoasters of teenagedom will probably give me a stroke!

I think if you love your child, it doesn't really matter how old you are though! There are many grandparents raising their kids kids nowadays, as well as kids having kids, and doing a decent job with them!

The only other thing that I can think of as far as this topic goes is the higher rate of birth defects of children from older women, but they have all kinds of tests for that so...

Good luck!!!

How old is TOO old to have a baby?

I totally understand some of your concerns but I feel that I am a healthy individual. I work out, take my vitamins, eat a mostly healthy diet, and I am at a healthy weight. The only reason for the delay in having a baby is my ob/gyn. He tells us to just keep trying and that if it doesn't eventually happen, he will refer us to a specialist. Well, it hasn't happened and I am upset that I wasted so much time listening to him. I just hope that it is not too late. My little family (including my child) has lots of love to give and hopefully we haven;t wasted too many years just waiting for it to happen...

How old is too old to have a baby?

I learned recently that my mom, who's going to be 49 this year, is pregnant. She's having the baby with a 27 year old and apparently they've been planning this for some time. I think the guy will be a great dad with bringing up the baby but I think my mom is a bit old to be having a baby. I don't mean any disrespect to my mom, of course but I mean, she'll be in her '60s by the time that child is 18! My grandmother and I were discussing it and she said only when you're no longer able to bear children is when you're too old but I don't know. What do you think? How old is too old to have kids?

Is 25 too old to have a baby?

I was 26 when I got pregnant. It is all up to you when you want to have a child. I heard some people say that they wish they had kids younger in age for the simple fact that they feel that they would have had more patience when discipling their children. Also, I have heard some parents say they wish they would have had kids younger so that they wouldn't be so old when their kids had kids. In regard to that, my husbands family, they all had kids young...My husbands grandmother has 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

My grandmother has 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The difference...his family started young and our family started later in life.

I have had other parents say that they were glad that they waited cause they were able to travel and do things and get things for them before they got kids to spend their money. It's not what other people think, it's how you feel. If you feel that your not ready...then don't do it.

I know my husband wanted to wait a year after we were married to have kids. Well...ooops! We got pregnant a month after we got married. I wouldn't change it for the world though. It's nice because I'm 27 now, and I feel that I have the energy right now to make her happy. I have no clue how I will feel when I get older.

I also went to school for Special Education and learned that there is more of a chance of birth defects when you have children after 30.

Just think, what is more important to you?

Is it too old at 48 to have a baby?

Let me tell you, you don’t have the energy you had at 20. Or 30. Or 40. I had my first at 40 and adopted the second, newborn, at 45. It only took a couple of weeks for me to ask husband, “Can you remind me again why we thought this was a good idea?” I had gotten used to sleeping all night, with a 5yo, and being able to take him anywhere and know that he would behave well for his age. And here I was back at “go” - waking up to feed a bottle every 1.5 hours (low birth weight, trying to catch up), then having to stay awake all day because you can’t trust 5yos to behave properly all the time. We had only about hours’ warning that the baby was available so no time to get ready for nursing again, and warming bottles with a screaming baby in your arms in the middle of the night is downright dangerous. His first two years were the most taxing, physically, of my life. That said, I love him dearly and wouldn’t trade him for anything. He’s 24 now.

Is 37 too old to have a baby?

No, 37 is not too old to have a baby. In the era of age-defying products and treatments, there is one thing which is bound by it, and that is the human reproductive system. Nevertheless, pregnancy in general is planned around certain things. The obvious ones are health, finance and an established career. However, with time, there seems to have been quite a few additions to the list. Women, now, are looking beyond this. Issues as basic as getting married to the right man have started garnering her attention. And once married, factors such as ‘living up to the bucket list’ are ruling the roost.Needless to say, all the factors combined have pushed up the ideal pregnancy age, especially in urban India. Thirties have become the new twenties. Gone are the days when getting married at 22 and pregnant at 24 was the rage. Couples today want to take it easy before planning a family. They want to settle down first, travel extensively and boast of a certain amount of success before taking the family route.Getting pregnant in 30sPlanning a pregnancy in 30s has positives and negatives in an equal proportion. In your early 30s, your chances of getting pregnant are only slightly lower than in your late 20s. However, after 35, it decreases and the risk involved increases. Some studies also suggest that late pregnancies can lead to super-intelligent children: Late pregnancies can result in super intelligent kids - Indian Parenting Magazine for raising happy, healthy and confident children However, do go through this piece to understand it better: http://www.theindusparent.com/20...

How old is too old to have a healthy baby?

Generally, the quality of ova doesn’t start getting less viable till around 40, and even then, the odds are still in favor of a healthy baby. It’s less risky if you’ve already had one child at an earlier age in your 30s. Many women by 50 prefer to get a healthy ovum, especially from a relative who donates it for IVF.

What age do you think is too old to have a baby or too old to have a baby for the first time?

After 40, more things can go wrong.
