How Painful Are Tumors

Are brain tumours sore to touch ?

In response to your question... A brain tumor might cause headaches or throbbing in the general area but, because it would reside under your skull bone, it would not be sensitive to your touch. So the answer is no.

As for your blood tests, sometimes "markers" show up in blood that hints that a cancer is possible. When these markers show up, the doctor will order additional tests to prove or disprove the existence of the cancer cells.

If you have a spot on your skull that is painful to the touch, it could be most anything. Maybe it's a zit that is becoming sore. Maybe you scratched it somehow. How about an ingrown hair? Perhaps you bumped your head and caused a bruise. A hard bump could also be the cause of your headaches. Like I said, it could be most anything. If the pain does not go away after a couple of days or if it gets worse, I'd go to your doctor and ask him specifically what is causing your pain.

Good luck!

Is cancer painful?

It depends on the type. In my case, the radiation treatment directed at my mouth and throat caused more pain than the cancer itself. Cancer usually only causes pain when a tumor has grown and is pressing on other organs, nerves or bones. Pancreatic cancer for instance, is very painful in its later stages.

Which is the most painful cancer and why?

Most cancers, at their late stages, are very painful.I think the most painful ones, however, are those that involve the bone. Bone cancer (Osteosarcoma) is notoriously painful. Unfortunately, it occurs very often in children. Bone metastasis from breast and prostate cancer are also very painful. Imagine a constant, dull, boring pain that gets worse every day. That’s the pain of cancer involving the bones.Another notoriously painful tumor is Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of the salivary gland. This is stubbornly recurrent no matter how wide the resection margin, and has strong propensity for neural (nerve) invasion. What makes this really bad is that it grows so slowly. 5 year survival rate approaches 100 percent, while 15 year survival rate approaches zero. Literally, the patient will die a slow and very painful death.Special mention goes to any tumor that involves the lungs, whether primary or metastatic. Imagine your wind pipes slowly closing over several weeks. Breathing slowly but surely gets more and more difficult, no matter what you take. Literally gasping for air until the patient dies. Not painful, strictly speaking, but severe discomfort.

Would symptoms from a brain tumor come and go?

I was diagnosed with a brain tumor in Feb 2010. my symptoms included daily headaches, usually started in the afternoon that always got better with Aleve and Sudafed and always came back the next day for several months before diagnosis, pain in my forehead when bending over, gait differences (that I was not even aware of), 10-20 second quick headaches on the right side of my head near my forehead (which is where my tumor is) sometimes coupled with a sharp pain at the back of my head, memory trouble and my personality had become flat.
My internist did a quick neuro in the office (squeeze my finger, lift this leg, walk over there, reflexes, watch the light, etc) and all of that was normal just 2 weeks before I got to the emergency room.
I had a glioblastoma the size of an apricot.
I never have been one who rushes to the doc for a little pain here and there, but in this case, I should have gotten a CT sooner and they would have seen the huge swelling that was causing the trouble.
So I would check with your doc. It's hard to say if there would be more signs 4-5 weeks later after symptoms first showed up. If it's a tumor, it may depend upon how quickly it's growing.
Good luck!

How painful is brain cancer?

I'm not sure where you read or heard that using earphones can cause brain cancer, but these days, nothing would surprise me.

Based on what you have said, no you don't have brain cancer. Your neck and face feeling could simply be because you are sitting in one position for a great length of time and it will cause you to get a bit stiff. The earphones themselves apply pressure to your head because they are covering your ears and compacting the "noise information" into one small area.

If you had brain tumors or cancer, trust me, you would know it. But you don't exhibit any symptoms of having either, not even a headache. What you have my friend, is a wonderfully, overactive imagination. Get off the computer and put your imagination to good use.

How painful is bone cancer?

Pain in the affected bone is the most common sign of bone cancer. At first, the pain is not constant. It may be worse at night or when the bone is used, for instance, leg pain when walking. As the cancer grows, the pain will be there all the time, and get worse with activity.Bone cancer pain is common in patients with advanced breast, prostate, and lung cancer as these tumors have a remarkable affinity to metastasize to bone. Once tumors metastasize to bone, they are a major cause of morbidity and mortality as the tumor induces significant skeletal remodeling, fractures, pain, and anemia

Small pain in back of head, brain tumor?

It comes and goes, when it comes it only lasts for a minute max, its not very painful, just a tincy bit, but could this mean i have a brain tumor, since its onyl in one spot on my head? I'm really scared :S

How painful is breast cancer?

I was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago - and I would have to say that until it was biopsied and treatments started it was almost completely painless. I have friends who would disagree and there are many different types of breast cancer and different places in the breast - and beyond - that it can grow.I found a lump. It was small and flattish like an M&M. Lying in bed it was there, next day in the shower I couldn't find it and assumed I had imagined it. Then I found it again. It grew surprising fast but I had an unusual type of aggressive cancer.I was on a boat to Antarctica and couldn't do anything about it. Three weeks later, back home, it was the size of a walnut. By the time it was removed another two weeks later it was 4.1cm, rock hard, and hurt. Walking felt as if a medicine ball was moving around in a sponge cake.I had a friend who described breast cancer as, “you are not sick but they tell you that you are. Then they make you sick, then really sick - until you are better or maybe you are not!”That summed it up.
