A pizza place offers 6 different cheeses and 12 different toppings. In how many ways can a pizza be made with?
You need to "choose" three toppings, which means you need to do a combination (versus a permutation, which would only be needed if you cared about the order that the toppings are added to the pizza, which you obviously don't care about). The combination formula is n!/(r!(n-r)!). 12!/(12-3)!(3!)= 220 ways to choose toppings. **know that ! Means 12*11*10*9...*3*2*1 Then multiply that by the 6 cheeses to get 220*6 = 1,320 ways. (Each choice of three different toppings can be paired with six different choices for cheese)
The Human Seasons by John Keats?
The Human Seasons by John Keats Could someone please help me interpret the following poem or direct me to a website that has full interpretation of this poem. Thx. FOUR Seasons fill the measure of the year; There are four seasons in the mind of man: He has his lusty Spring, when fancy clear Takes in all beauty with an easy span: He has his Summer, when luxuriously Spring's honied cud of youthful thought he loves To ruminate, and by such dreaming high Is nearest unto heaven: quiet coves His soul has in its Autumn, when his wings He furleth close; contented so to look On mists in idleness--to let fair things Pass by unheeded as a threshold brook. He has his Winter too of pale misfeature, Or else he would forego his mortal nature.
Would birthdays be closer together or farther apart if we measured a yaer the "right way"? why?
I take it you mean the "right way" as in counting the year as being its actual 365 and a quarter days long instead of the whole leap year thing? In the short term birthdays would be farther apart because you'd have that extra quarter of a day in each year so instead of there being a gap of 365 days between each birthday you have there'd be a gap of 365 and a quarter days. However, in the long run it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference. Because the change is accounted for four yearly now instead of yearly which it technically should be. The length of a year does actually change sometimes though. For example changing over from 2007 to 2008 it was decided that we hadn't actually made a full revolution of the sun and we needed another second in 2007 to do so, so the year 2007 was lengthened by one second to make up for this. So the countdown actually went 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, ZERO.. Happy new year Instead of just plain old 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. I hope that's actually what you were talking about? :p
