How Serious Is Diabetes

Is lupus or diabetes more serious?

my dad was diagnosed with diabetes last september and was really upset about it. diabetes runs in both sides of my family. everyone on my dad's side (except my aunt) that is around my dad's age or is older has diabetes. some ppl on my mom's side has diabetes.
now my mom, who is an RN, was diagnosed with lupus yesterday and is crying right now.
im really scared right now because both of my parents have some type of disease. i feel like ill lose them both. i don't want to ask my mom who is really educated about lupus bc i don't want to make her more upset, but does lupus affect life expectancy?

and i know that i may be diagnosed with diabetes when i get older since it is so common in my family. but is lupus a genetic disease too?

How serious is diabetes?

I am afraid I have diabetes. I haven't gotten tested yet, but I am going to soon. I was just wondering how serious it is? I'm a hypochondriac and I'm very very afraid of it causing death. I've heard of people dying from complications to it and it makes me pretty nervous. Any help?

Is type one diabetes as serious an illness as type 2?

Type one diabetes (DMT1) is more urgent to treat than type two (DMT2. The treatment of Type 2 might be put off for months while trying to see what works. DMT1 will be urgently treated as soon as it is found.People with DMT1 are subject to ketoacidosis, a condition that kills. There is no corresponding condition like that in DMT2.The medication for T1 is likely to be several insulin injections daily, and the initial treatment for T2 is likely to be a single pill in the morning.T1 disease produces its problems in young people, while T2 waits for much older individuals.T1 can kill the first time it shows, and T2 never does that. Missing a couple of days of insulin might produce a life threatening response, and missing a couple of pills in type 2 months might get you a scolding.DMT1 is far more deadly and urgent than DMT2. DMT1 It is harder to treat, and if not well controlled may lead to diabetic complications faster than Type 2.Type 2 diabetes is a significant disease that can disability and death when present for a long time.T1DM is a diseas that can kill quickly, and can lead you from emergency to emergency. Which is potentially the nastier of the two, I would pick Type 1 any old time.

With type of diabetes is more dangerous type 1 or 2?

Ha Ha, this is a fight that has been going on between type 1s and type 2s for years on who has it worse, or whose is more dangerous.

In short, Type 1.

A lot of type 2s don't take care of their control of their diabetes. Meaning they eat what they want carelessly of what is in the food (note: this isn't all type 2 diabetics)

Type 1s can't do that... Well, unless they wanna die within a month

What is the proper treatment for diabetes? (serious question)?

I know someone who keeps smoking medical marijuana as a way to get rid of the pain but not treating it. Long story short she keeps depending on me ALMOST every single day instead of every single week. I gave her 20 dollars just so she can purchase the "Med's" (Yes she takes insulin and try's to eat healthy). My point is I know she is not treating the symptoms at all. She is just making it worse and worse by trying to ignore the pain. This is a very serious question if I see any of you posers trying to be funny I will flag or report you!
