How much food should I be feeding my 9 month old cat right now per day?
Your best bet is to start breaking his feedings into twice a day. Feed him in the morning before you leave and once again 12 hours later. And as someone stated, try to feed him a quality canned cat food as mostly all dry food has way too much carbs. Feeding canned food is very, very convenient, cats will eat about 4-6 ounces a day, depending on how large they are. Most cat foods come in 5-ish ounce cans, which you can just split in half in the morning and feed the other half at night. My cats will generally start screaming at me for food two-three hours before they are fed. They get enough food, none of them are sickly, they still demand food. Think of it kind of like a child, they will beg and whine for cookies or snacks right before dinner but you have to tell them that it's almost time to eat so they have to wait. It's not being cruel. It's preventing your cat from eating too many calories in a day and gaining weight that can cause all sorts of problems. Most cats can have small treats throughout the day, like small pieces of chicken but most cat foods have all of what a cat needs in a day. Remember, some cats will need to eat more, some less. Watch your cat to see if he is losing any weight, make sure he still looks healthy, is alert and active. Do not feed additional meals to your cat if he is crying, you can offer a small bit of treats throughout the day, but nothing close to what he eats for a meal.

I agree with the comment above that you don't have to start with rice cereal, which is fairly "empty" nutrition wise. We introduced other fruits after that about a week apart so you can monitor for any kind of allergic reaction. Avocado, pear, etc. Just go slowly and start with fairly small amounts.If it's not the first foods, the baby can eat a pretty wide variety of things at 9 months including proteins like red meat, chicken and fish. Almost any kind of veggie - sweet potatoes and carrots are usually popular, although our son loved beets and broccoli (just like his mom!). Everyone has their own theory, but I think the wider variety of foods a baby is exposed to early on the better. They learn to like different tastes/textures and they don't have trouble trying new things, or being intolerant to them, later on.

You do not feed a cat urinary tract food to PREVENT problems. That food is used when an imbalance in the pH of the cat's urine is determined by uranalysis to be too alkaline. The food will acidify the cat's urine. If the balance is already correct it can cause the pH to go in the other direction and make the pH too acidic and result in the formation of urinary stones. Stones frequently can only be corrected by surgical removal. I found this, it tells you when kids can have certain foods. It says at about 10-12 months you can give your baby macaroni. But I'm sure it will be fine, but don't do anything you don't want to. If you do give it to her, be sure not to give her a lot at one time. Give her 6-12 pieces a time.
