How should I price old used video games?
I can tell you the rough method we used back when I worked in games retail.The price for a used game was based roughly on 60% of the price of a new copy. Lets say a new copy is $60 so we would sell a used copy for about $40. If the game was a bit older and the price of a new copy dropped down to $30 then we would price the used copies at $20.There are obviously some exceptions to this, annualised sports games drop like a stone in price when a new version comes out so their used prices were always terrible especially older that 2 years. Games that were popularly bundled with consoles also tended to have a much lower price as there was always too much supply for the demand, for example God of War 3 was bundled with almost every single PS3 especially later in the console’s life so we sold it for almost nothing and still had a mountain of them sitting in the back. Rarer, hard to find games might hold their value better so obscure Japanese games or cult classics might hold their value better than something like Call of Duty or Assassin’s Creed.

A console is ok but if you want to experience a game with maximum graphical intensity and immersion, a high end PC can’t be beat. Also a game is playable forever on a PC where as a console game is stuck playing on that given generation of console. You can take a 20 year old PC game and still play it on your new PC. You can’t do this once you no longer have the generation of console your game is meant to play one. A PC allows for unlimited input customization and display outputs. Some games really look amazing being played panoramic across three monitors such as World of Warships, Elite Dangerous, or Star Citizen. A lot of MMOs cannot be played on a console due to lack of control inputs. A desk top/HT PC will give you a much larger bang for the buck for the quality/performance and lower price of games. Expect to pay $1500 for a starting gaming PC with a discrete graphics card, monitor, mouse and keyboard. When your PC gets old you can just upgrade a few components at a time. You do not have to toss the entire PC to get a better one.
