Can a hamster eat strawberry's?

it's good to diversify their diet with fresh fruits and veggies. but in very small amounts. no more then half a strawberry at a time! they really enjoy greens and carrots more, though :)

Would strawberry yogurt make a hamster sick?

Yogurt and other dairy products are not meant to be given to small animals. This is because of the calcium--they already get enough of it in their food and have a hard time breaking it down in their systems. I would stick to fresh veggies and fruits to a minimum, and give lots of regular hamster food and always fresh water from a thoroughly washed water bottle.

Can hamsters eat strawberries?

You can feed them strawberries, but only in small amounts.
Also, make sure you dont over-feed them with greens. They can get diarrhoea.
Like lettuce, too much of it can cause liver problems.
Only feed the flesh of apples and not the seeds. The seeds can be poisonous.

Also, not too many sweet stuff. They can get fat and it aint good for their health.
Chocolates are a no-no.

Make sure you dont feed them anything sharp that could puncture their cheek pouches. They're thin membranes.

Once, I fed my hamster a carrot cube, and he stored it in his pouch, I was looking at his pouch from the side and I saw a orange thing. It was the carrot.

So, you can see that their cheek pouches are very thin.

How safe is it for hamsters to eat strawberries?

Yes strawberries are safe for hamsters to eat. Make sure they are eaten fresh and any older fruit should be removed. As hamsters tend to store food, if they hide the strawberry away for later you may want to remove it before it gets spoiled.

Hamsters, Grapes and StrawBerries?

Visit the following link for a list of foods you can and not give a hamster.

You can give them strawberries and seedless grapes but remember any fruit should be given in small quantities and not more than 2 times a week since too much can cause diarrhea.

The sugar in fruits is natural sugar and should not cause any problems to hamsters in small quantities. Processed sugar is not good for hamsters, so stay away from feeding any food with processed sugar in them like biscuits.

Food of sticky consistency can get stuck in the cheek pouches of hamsters, that is why giving them chocolates and peanut butter etc which have a sticky consistency is strictly prohibited.

What are some treats that are safe to give hamsters?

When I was a child, I had a pet hamster. One summer, there was an explosion in the grasshopper population - it was like getting hit by a swarm of locusts. They were everywhere, even getting into houses.Just out of curiosity, I caught one that got in the house and put it in the hamster cage. It was fascinating - Goldie froze, his nose working like crazy…and he lunged, seizing the grasshopper and chomping down on its head, decapitating it instantly. Then he devoured it, with extreme relish. All he left were the legs. Then he sniffed around furiously, looking for more.I give him a grasshopper a couple of times a week, and he ate them every time. He started to get fat, so I eventually stopped. So I guess…grasshoppers?
