How Should Your Wisdom Teeth Hole Look Like After A Week

Is a dark hole where the wisdom tooth was after surgery (a week after) a sign of a dry socket?

No, the dark hole you see is the healing socket. A socket heals from the bottom up. This is different from healing wounds on the skin where the sides of the wounds heal together all at once.A dry socket is different. After a period of time as the socket is healing and the pain is decreasing, there is an increase in the pain level. This is because the clot has retracted exposing bone. It is the bone that is painful.

Wisdom teeth-when will the hole close?

got one of my wisdom teeth pulled on thursday (4 days ago) and im just wondering, how long does it take for it to completely heal? i have no idea what the "hole" looks like nor have i felt it with my tounge (too scared. hehe) so, do gums grow back or something? when will it CLOSE completely? (if it even does) thanks.

Is it ok to get my tongue pierced 2 weeks after wisdom teeth?

i had my wisdom teeth removed 2 wednesdays ago (its been 1 week and 3 days) and im planning on getting my tongue pierced on friday for my birthday. will that be ok? for a tongue piercing, saltwater is used to clean it as well as the wisdom teeth holes so its killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

i had a really fast and easy recovery from my wisdom teeth. ate pizza the second day. i had no problems & they dont hurt at all anymore.

do you think i can still get my tongue pierced on friday? im really set on doing it but not if its terribly bad for my health.

thanks!

also, please dont lecture me on getting my tongue pierced because youre just wasting your time typing out insults :)

Got my wisdom tooth pulled 5 days ago an it looks like a deep whole, could something be wrong?

I got my wisdom tooth pulled 5 days ago, an after all that time it just looks like a never ending whole in my mouth. It doesnt hurt or anything but, it does have a bad taste an it makes my breath smell. I rinse my mouth with salt water an Listerine after i eat or drink something. It stopped bleeding the same day I got it pulled, so I took the gauze off same day. I was just curious if there could be a problem? and whats the reason for the smell and taste?

Is there supposed to be a tiny hole after wisdom teeth removal? I've had my wisdom teeth out for 5 days and my doctor just took out my stitches. Is this normal?

Yup absolutely normal !it's an extraction socket ,which basically the place in the bone that was reserved for that tooth .Now the bone in the region will remodel in the area ,it takes about a month for this process to be completed. Now meanwhile ,i advise you to keep an eye on that area and save it from infection .For this you have to maintain meticulous oral hygiene brushing and rinsing daily, but never over that area.Avoid having food that can get lodged in that area,If it still happens by chance please visit a dentist and get that cleaned .Also keep an eye for any signs of infection that may arise -swollen tonsils or tenderness in the regionThe swelling and pain you experience should subside with 1 week of the extraction processAny foul odour or salty taste in the mouth ,our dischareShould be taken seriouslyYou shouldn't develop a fever ,or any ringing in your ear on that side. Also ,don't smoke.

How will my wisdom tooth hole close up if I keep getting food stuck in it?

It's been 8 weeks and the hole is still very deep. I am still getting loads of food debris in it and I am forced to pick it out with those floss pickers because it won't come out with a water syringe (that's how packed the food gets). Should I let the food pile up and risk getting another infection or continue trying to get the food out? The only thing I am worried about is that the whole won't close up if I continue to do this.

Does your hole close from getting a wisdom teeth pulled out?

The big gaping hole will probably be there for 3 or 4 weeks--it won't necessarily hurt, but make sure you don't get food stuck in it. After a while, your jawbone and gum will grow in so that there's no hole--it'll pretty much look like you didn't ever have a tooth there. But mine took a few months to close up pretty well. If you keep it clean, it'll heal, then some tissue will fill in the hole somewhat, and much later, the bone will fill in the bottom of the socket. By the time you stop wanting to stick your tongue in your tooth socket all the time, it'll be healed, and then just be patient.

The hole where my wisdom tooth was pulled is getting bigger?

it's normal, before, it was swelled up, as the swelling goes down, the void grows deeper..if there were somthing wrong like dry socket, the pain would be stiffling..

I have a small, but rather unnoticeable hole where my wisdom teeth were extracted. It's been four days since the surgery, is this dry socket?

Generally that hole is a healing socket where the tooth once stood. There should be slight-to-no discomfort by now. Dry socket can happen , but it has a sharp intense pain associated with it, and starts around second to third day after extraction. Just be observant that no food particles get lodged there , and if it does, try to flush it out with water , rather than trying to poke it with tooth picks . Also, though its difficult, but try not to probe that socket with your tongue till it fills in , which wouldnt be long now .Hope that helps.
