How can I grow taller (I'm fourteen)?

First of all thank you for asking a question about me. This will be my first answer in quora about myself.Okay, so first of all I wana tell u that genetic is always a first priority but handwork always show it's results. In my case, my family parents are of medium height around 5ft to 5′5ft, and others like my uncles and other relatives are 3inch more in height. Now, I had joined gym after completing my 10th with few of my friends. What happened was, we got a very good trainer who told us not to use heavy weights and do as much free hands excersices and light weight lifting as much as u can(if u wana know my suggested exercises, then please look at my previous answers). I was a very obedient student from my childhood, so I just did whatever my trainer told me to do. But my friends got influenced by their co-partners and started lifting heavy weights. They used to skipped the free hand excersices, started taking supplements and steroids, and used to hide from the trainer. We used to have a specific time for excersies like 1hr in a day and 4–5days in a week. But they used to spend 2hrs in the gym and used to come everyday. When we passed out our 12th I left the gym with height around 5′9 and a good body physic. And my friends, they didn't got their height more than 5ft and moreover they back pain, ankel pain, shoulder ache, one of my friend had a very bad accident while lifting weights now he can't even lift his hand. One thing I want to tell u and others who will read this. Please have patients and work hard don't think about results and success and goals. Just live ur life happily.I hope u understood my story. If you eat a lot will you grow taller?

i'm 18 and im about 187cm with shoes on. but my goal is at least 190cm (because i swim and that 3cm will give me advantage + my maternal uncle is super tall hes like 185cm so my genes are pretty good for height i guess)

my friend is 191 cm and hes not black or anything in fact hes korean and he told me if you want to grow taller you need to eat a lot and sleep a lot. no fancyformula. but ive thought about it and i think hes right because if you want to grow taller you need to consume a lot of nutrients and every kind of them so if you eat whatever you want and not be picky about food you will get variety of nutrients.

is this true or is this just going to make me wider? i remember eating TONS during teenage years in HS (i probably ate 4000calories a day) and i ate a lot of dairy and protein i guess that helped. now i just turned 18 and my swim coach told me there will be another growth spurt when im 19 so i should be eating, no?

Can you grow a lot taller than both your parents?

Yes you can, and whilst often a person takes after their parents, grandparents too can make a difference to your growth too. My husband is 6ft 2", his mother is 5ft 3" his father is 5ft 5", his two grandmothers and one grandfather are no taller than 5ft 6", but one grandfather was over 6ft and that is who my husband took after. So you see you don't always take from your parents only, but grandparents and even their parents can have an effect on how tall you grow. Your a boy so you are going to do better than say a sister would, boys grow taller than girls, and of course you are only 13 years old, so you have to at least 18 years often men don't stop growing till they are 21 when they also fill out into the shape of a mans body too. Look at cousins and uncles in your family, you could also take after them.

Try not to worry about it, possibly stress and anxiety could stop you growing, but whatever height you get to, you will be alright, still just as attractive to the female than a taller man, its personality etc that counts.

How much taller can I grow after the age of 16?

From this chart it looks like you have a small chance to grow about another inch once past 16..

If you sleep a lot can you get taller?

I kinda doubt you'd still be getting taller at 22, but anything is possible. The only ways to know for sure are 1. to measure yourself really accurately every day and see if you're getting taller, and/or 2. to go to an orthopedist and have him x-ray you to see if the growth plates on your long bones are still open.. if they're not, then you may just be wearing shoes taller than you're used to. ;-)

Will jumping a lot make me taller?

My brother and I are 4 years apart. I immigrated to the US at the age of 5. He arrived later 5 years later at the age of 14. When we reunited, there was a noticeable difference in our appearances. I was lighter, taller, meatier, and looked all around more healthier. He, on the other hand, was the opposite (having come from a 3rd world country). I was an inch or two taller than him. I felt like a South Korean soldier next to a North Korean.  Fast forward to 6 months later: my brother had outgrown me by a foot, a whole fucking 12 inches. He also gained a lot weight and muscle without lifting weights. His whole bone structure seemed to have expanded and compounded. His hair, nail, eyes, etc. also became more healthier. His mind also became more alert. The difference was evident.See, what happened was, my father, concerned for my brothers health, forced him to exercise and follow a strict, healthy diet. I believe nutrition played a huge role in his transformation, but I think the change would not have been so great, had it not been for exercise. My brother was ordered to jump 200 times 6 days a week for that 6 month period. And I mean, leaps, not your short basketball 3 pointer jump, but your get low and explode with full power to dunk type of jump.Fast forward to college: after years of sports, my brother was around 5'10, and I (having lived in the US longer) was 6'1. Our parents are 5'2 at most. So, jump - no, leap, with all your might. You're only 15. You'll pass the 6ft mark, no worry.

I am 16 years old and I am about 169cm. How do I grow taller?

Different people have growth spurts at different times and ages. Depending on a lot of factors, you might grow. For boys, most of the height growth will have happened by 16, but they will continue to grow at a much slower pace till age 18 or 19. So you will grow taller, but no one can predict by how much. Most of your height is determined by genetics. But you can do few things to ensure that genes have a chance to express themselves fully. Regular exercise, good nutrition, good life style and good sleep can help. Exercises like swimming, jogging, skipping rope, push ups, pull ups, yoga, are good. Exercise at least 3-4 times a week for at least 45 mins/session. Diet high in protein (beans, lentils/dhals, quinoa), low in carbs (food with low glycemic index, oatmeal, quinoa, whole grains), lots of vegetables especially leafy vegetables, fruits, etc. Not eating out often, and not eating processed or junk foods helps. Good life style like no smoking, or doing drugs, etc. Getting at least 8 hours of sleep, etc will help you overall.

Can I grow taller if I lie down all day?

Hello

There are many ways that can help you to be taller.
Here are some useful methods to grow taller faster:

Eating the right foods

You need to start eating foods that are rich in proteins.
for instance:
Milk, fish, eggs, and lean meat are all forms of good protein.
You should also eat foods that have plenty of amino acids and vitamins.
Be aware that the biggest threats to your growth are caffeine, junk food and refined sugar.

Different exercises

Doing the right exercises can be really helpful for growing taller. Swimming for example can help a lot to increase your growth potential.

In the water you have less gravity and that means more open bone areas for your body to fill them with new bone tissue. The free motion of swimming is very light on your body and greatly releases stress, which can prevent your body from growing. If you can swim 3-4 times a week it will be great.

sleep well

Getting a full night's sleep each and every night is one of the things that you must do if you want to grow taller.
Get 8-9 hours of sleep each night and take whatever steps you need to ensure that your sleep is uninterrupted as much as possible.

You should also know that the first 2 hours of sleep are when the most growth hormone is released into your system from your pituitary gland. Not getting enough sleep can lower the amount of growth hormone your body produces, which is not a good thing.

All the best
