What job options are open after an MBA in nonprofit?

Regardless of your concentration in Nonprofits, your MBA will get you the same opportunities as any other concentration. My concentration was Global Business, but in an interview, it was an MBA like any other MBA. The concentration may have gotten you some extra coursework in a specific area, but the degree is still the same Master’s Degree in Business Administration. So, I would think your potential job market is endless. That’s the beauty of an MBA, they cover a large body of knowledge all rolled up into a single degree. They generally cover a little marketing, finance, accounting, human resources, economics, strategic planning and budgeting, supply-chain management, operations management, business law, etc.MBA’s are designed to prepare you for upward job mobility. They create job opportunities and higher salaries. They are not the most academic degree to acquire, compared with an MS in Finance or an MS in Global Logistics for example. However, they are designed for students of all academic and career backgrounds. When I was attending classes for my MBA at Arizona State University, we had students ranging from Forestry undergraduate degrees to Insurance Actuaries. Generally, your Bachelor’s degree will differentiate you more than your MBA.So, I think your MBA is a solid credential that can create job opportunities in management for almost any field.

I have a Bachelor's in Business Administration - what is the logical (or recommended) next step for graduate study?

That really depends on what you like to do. I don’t know where you’re from, so maybe your options are a bit different than mine were. I finished my bachelor in business administration 2 years ago in the Netherlands and had to choose a master programme (a specialization), like so many others. The most popular master here, by far, is Financial Accounting. Why? Because being an (audit) accountant gives you some kind of job security, the pay is good and it comes with certain perks, like a company car and your overtime is compensated with vacation days.I never liked accounting, so I chose the second most popular master here: Business Information Management. It’s relatively new programme that has grown tremendously over the past couple of years. What you learn is IT management. You learn to communicate strategic business goals to stories for software developers. People who speak both business and IT are very rare. I receive messages from recruiters every week through linkedin and i’ve only graduated last august. Data science was also part of this master programme, which allowed me to get a job in online marketing in a very fast growing e-commerce company. This master programme was the best choice i ever made when it comes to my studies. If IT interests you i can really recommend information management. You can become a data scientist, a product owner, an online marketer, a consultant and much more. But there are a lot of other fields to explore… like marketing management, finance & investments, human resource management, organizational change, supply chain management, management of innovation. There are also internationalization programmes. Perhaps the chinese economy is something that would interest you. Pick what interests you most!
