Which apps are good for learning to read Mandarin (Chinese) characters?

Thanks for the A2A.Well I was/am in the same position you are, with speaking and listening being fine and characters being the difficult bit. I have a 3-strike way to make sure I know how to read (and to a lesser degree write) the characters.MemriseI recommend this one at every turn to start things off. It looks nice, has games, gets you points so you can compete and really helps drill things into your head. It's definitely the app that has racked up the most phone-time for me over the last few years and I'm very satisfied with the 1000s of words it thinks I've learned in that time. However it's very much a recognition thing, which can get confusing with similar characters, and is useless if you want to write. So, strike 2...AnkiThis is far and away the best flashcard system simply because of the customisation potential. For HSK there are loads of sets already custom-made, but you can tweak them a bit. I'm currently trying to learn the most common 3,000 characters, and the set I'm using (Most Common 3000 Hanzi) even includes the stroke-order diagrams. It comes with a whiteboard build-in and is definitely the best way to do writing. It makes reading a lot more in-depth too, especially if you're interested in alternative characters and traditional derivations. How to use them all? Strike 3...The Chairman's BaoThis is an app that draws general-interest news stories, condenses them into a few hundred words and then gives you them as Chinese, fully annotated with a glossary, grammar guide and idiom repository. It's easy to tap on words for a translation, and even if something is above your level is just possible to get through using the materials provided. The articles are graded by topic and level (starting at HSK3 since any lower makes it harder to render coherent news stories) and for the most part are engaging and fun.Hope this helps! I've used other things in the past, but it's only recently that I've really gotten down to studying writing when I realised that my speaking/listening were hovering around HSK5/6, and my writing stuck at HSK3!

What are the best tactics for a follow up email?

There are many tips when it comes to improving a follow up. Make it short, fun and personal. Add a line asking your prospects if they want to opt out from further follow ups. Find the perfect amount of follow ups.But I'd love to talk more about a bigger follow up strategy: automation.Chances are that if you're doing regular cold email campaigns, you're writing a lot of follow up emails. Doing it manually is time-consuming and tiresome. What's worse, you probably will forget to follow up on some important email.Follow up automation solves all of those problems. Here's where Reply comes in :) We've built our whole business on the idea of email automation and came up with lots of tools to make following up easier.Reply supports categorizing leads into different groups and setting up different follow up patterns for each of them. You'll be able to choose different email templates for each group and set up a different amount of follow ups.So, for example, you'll be able to automatically send out follow ups tailored for different timezones to improve your chances of getting a reply. Another way to use this features would be to set up two different groups for new prospects and people you're already in touch with and tune the number of follow ups accordingly. For cold emails, four follow ups will usually suffice — while you could do more with people you already established some contact with.I really like this example:To sum things up, your follow-ups should be really short to start with. Second, don’t be afraid to put a joke or an ironic musing as this way you’ll be able to stay closer to the customer.Be personal, mention a project of theirs you consider to be interesting or a profile feature that you admire.
