How To Apply Foundation

How to apply powder foundation?

I was just wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to apply your powder foundation for a flawless look :) like no powdery or creasing/dryness n stuff:/ any tips that help you guys?

What is the best way to apply foundation to one's face? Do foundation brushes help, and are they necessary?

Hey,Yes, foundation brushes are absolutely necessary. Using the correct foundation brush blends and buffs foundation into the skin, resulting in a smooth, airbrushed finish. There is wide variety of makeup brushes you can find here- http://www.nykaa.com/makeup/brus...There are three primary means of applying foundation: with your fingers, with a sponge, or with a brush. Putting on your makeup with your fingers allows for better blending, while applying it with a brush helps keep the spread of bacteria (and therefore acne) to a minimum.Whether the foundation is a liquid, cream, or powder, it should be applied first in the center of your face, a few dabs to either cheek near your nose, your chin, and a bit on your forehead. There shouldn't be any noticeable lines where your foundation starts or ends; it should blend smoothly into your neck and hairline. Prevent your foundation from being too thick by spreading it out.If you do have particularly uneven skin in certain areas, acne, dark spots, or under-eye circles, apply foundation using a concealer brush to touch up on these areas. Make sure to blend it in well to prevent dark or orange dots on your face.Finish up your entire face by applying your foundation with setting powder, a translucent, matte powder that helps prevent your foundation from sliding around while preventing oil buildup from showing through.

How do you apply liquid foundation with a brush?

Hey!I pour/pump/squeeze my liquid foundation on the back of my hand and using my fingers to dot the foundation all over my face. Then go in with a brush to blend out the foundation. This method is great for getting the most of the product then putting the foundation directly on the brush.

How to apply foundation to dry flaky skin?

First of all and most importantly, over and above foundation application, she needs to make sure that she is exfoliating at least twice a week if she has dry flaky skin to get rid of the flakes. You can get scrubs (exfoliants) in the skincare aisle at the drugstore. Also, the worst way to apply makeup for her skin type is with a brush. Making any kind of motions with a brush will lift the flakes and accentuate them- making them look worse than they are and drawing attention to them. The best method would be patting it on with a damp sponge (I like the beauty blender but you can find dupes for a fraction of the cost) since that will pat any flakes on her skin down, while applying the foundation. Another option is using fingers. Not quite as good in my opinion as a sponge but its an okay method for flakes. Importantly as well, she needs to be making sure that she has the right foundation for her skin type. If her foundation is advertised as being 'long-lasting, all day wear, staying or matte' than it is not good for your skin since those are meant to absorb oils and when you have dry skin, the last thing you want is the few oils your face is actually producing being absorbed, that will just make her problem worse. She should be looking for foundations that say 'hydrating, moisturizing, luminous, glowing' as these will help add some of that much needed moisture back into her skin. Lastly, if she is using any type of powder, get her to skip that step. Powder is using to control oil and that step is unnecessary for her skin type and likely contributing to the problem. Hope this helps.
