Where do actors and the crew stay when acting a film?

It depends on where the movie is being shot. As someone who in the past has worked inhe Production Office on a few movies, I can tell you that hotels and accommodation is one of the things which takes the most time and causes the most anxiety in the making of a film!Fairly typically, for a big budget film being shot in a city location, the Above The Line personnel (artists, director, DOP etc) will stay in a top flight 5-star hotel. The majority of the crew will stay in a good mid-range hotel, and local crew will stay in their own homes. For example, for the London portion of shooting for The Jackal, some of the stars stayed at The Dorchester, Heads of Department stayed at The Athenauem, mid-range crew stayed at the Kensington Park Hotel, and local crew travelled from their own homes. It was towards the end of a long and arduous shoot, and people were tired and unhappy with some of the accommodation, and so almost daily people were switching hotels. It was a fairly miserable experience to be involved in.For a longer, studio-based movie, the Above The Line may rent houses close to the studios. That is why you sometimes get paparazzi shots and unlikely newspaper stories suggesting that, for example, Brad Pitt is moving to St Albans. We use specialist agencies to find these short-rent properties.

Who is a great actor, film actor, or stage artist? Why?

Short answer: Movie Actors. Before there are tomatoes thrown at me, please read on..Al Pacino said "Doing stage is like walking on a tight rope high in the air without a safety net, while doing movies is like walking on a line drawn on the floor. Which one do you think is more difficult?" But guess what, sometimes a walk on the line gets difficult. A good movie actor is expected to act ordinary as compared to the Shakespearean kind of acting displayed from stage actors. Trust me, its a lot easier to overact than to act natural. The big difference between stage acting and screen acting is in the preparation. When you do a play, you get the completed script, you get to know the other actors, you have weeks of rehearsal, you get feedback about what you're doing from the director, you get to try lots of ideas, and so on. In a movie, it's very possible that you will meet the other actors just before filming, get little if any rehearsal time, get last minute script changes, and get little if any feedback from a director. You are asked to deliver an immediate result. In a movie, an original and believable performer is the king. Whereas this is not true in the case of stage acting. A stage actor's large live audience is not there to believe him. Thus summarizing, that even if there exists a lot of challenges for a stage actor like a "one take show", constantly being aware of his positions on the stage and extreme voice modulation, personally I feel that movie actors do a commendable job in making his/her audience believe in the character they are playing, at the same time inspiring their lives. Thanks for the A2A.

Why are there so many British actors in Game of Thrones?

Because Game of Thrones is based on a medieval/Early Modern war between two English noble houses (the Houses of York and Lancaster) and Westeros is based largely off of the United Kingdom, with various regions representing major parts of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. It could be argued that parts of Westeros aren't British analogues, but for the most part, it's based off a British war and the UK.Also, while a majority of the actors are from the UK, not all of them are:Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) is AmericanNikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and Pilou Asbæk (Euron Greyjoy) are Danish.Melisandre and Daario Naharis are DutchKhal Drogo (Jason Momoa) is American SamoanPedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) is Chilean-AmericanKristofer Hivju is NorwegianEven within the UK-coded Westeros, major characters are played by non-British actors. Also, there's the not-insignificant factor that most audiences (especially HBO’s large group of American subscribers) associate royalty, medieval imagery, nobility and the general aesthetic of GoT with British history, so to audiences, a British cast helps with audience immersion.

Why are most of the actors in Game of Thrones from England, when the show is an American show?

The producers, Doc and Dingorian, though American, went to university together in Northern Ireland. When they were making the Game of Thrones they envisioned Westeros as having the same grey, blustery, windy weather as Northern Ireland, so they based much of the production there.GRRM is also an American but he has drawn heavily from British and Irish history in his books. He has drawn from the history other parts of the world (Genghis Khan, Roman Empire, Constantinople, Venice etc) ; but as an amateur English-speaking historian who speaks only one language, when it comes to the Middle Ages, he is limited largely to English sources. The written characters (in the books, I mean) seems to speak in a rather archaic “Ivanhoe”-like lingo that suggests England or rather the British Isles.Being shot largely in Ireland and other parts of the EU, any non-EU actors (Americans like Peter Dinklage or the guy who played Oberyn Martell) need work visas. As the owner of a company in the EU who often hires people from outside the EU, I can tell you that it is a bureaucratic pain in the ass to do it. The EU does not want non-EU people working here. Of course many of the actors live in LA or New York anyway and some fly back home for the weekend. The show is partially paid for by EU funds making it even harder to get a visa for non-EU actors. If they want non-EU actors, they likely have to include the request in the paperwork when they apply for the funds, well ahead of time; any scenes shot outside the EU also have to be included. As someone who has dealt with EU projects, I can tell you that EU bureaucracy constantly audits recipients of funds. A mistake or an omission can mean the withdrawal of those funds.Since they are shot and produced mostly in Europe, it makes sense that they would use local actors regardless of visa rules etc.And since it’s in English, they mostly use British or Irish actors. Of course they use others: the guy who played Daario and the woman who plays Melisandre are Dutch; The actors playing Jaime and Euron are Danish; the Tormund actor is Norwegian, etc.

Did you know that the singer Barbra Streisand is in favour of a United Ireland?

Well i am from Ireland and NI has never been part of here , that Welsh fella TSK is certainly on a rant . Why a Welshman would be so interested of the affairs of an island he doesnt live on is strange . to tell you the truth . But anyway we live in peace here always have. NI has its days but its grand most of the time i think. To tell you the truth we in the Republic have gone one way and NI the other . Partition has made it 2 very different places . Some Unionists up there have a warped ignorant view on this country despite never been here so we thnk it is hilerious to read there disses of Ireland . To answer your question most celebrities do support it because they love Ireland but they are ignorant to what people want . We want to be Irish that will never change and they want to be British there choice good luck to them its there home afterall as we are happy enough with the 26 county Republic it has all we need without shoving NI troubles on us ..

How can I make money with my accent ability?

I am blessed with the ability to speak in a British accent. I'm pretty sure I made a good impression with it coz my family and friends always asked me to speak with the accent when I'm around. At the risk of sounding pompous, I have dated 2-3 girls on that accent factor alone. I have never been to the UK and I don't have any British friends (though I've spoken to the occasional Brits wandering around town, in my natural accent coz I don't want them to ask me so many questions). My only exposure to the British accent is from the Internet. I think I should be able to do something useful with this ability aside from amusing my friends, but I don't know how. The only thing I could think of is acting, but I don't think I am cut to be an actor; i mean, I'm plain and quite short, definitely not TV or stage material. I have the ability so I think I should use it. Any ideas how?
