How To Be Better At Volley Ball And Some Tricks.

What is a trick to get my overhand serve in volleyball?

These tricks what i am about to tell you will help you give a swing to the ball while serving.Sudden Dipping ServeHold the ball in your hand such that the airhole of the ball is facing you. Now you need to strike on the hole from the center of your palm with enough power to let it reach the mid court. You will see the ball floating for a second and suddenly it will dip in the air and starts descending very quickly. It is very difficult for the opposite person o judge the trajectory of the ball and thus face difficulty to tackle it.Swinging right and left :Toss the ball high up in the air and adjust yourself to it to position yourself nearly below the ball. When you’re about to hit it, hit it such that you get contact slightly towwards left or right of the center of the ball and give your arm a full swing in the opposite direction along with hitting the ball (Just like how people swing the football). You’ll see the ball rotating and swinging towards right or left on a different unsual path. This is difficult to judge and there are very high chances that the defender will not be able to tackle it and feels helpless.Try these the next time you’re out on the ground. I am sure everybody will be overwhelmed by your serves as was in my case as well.Enjoy it !!

How can I get better at volleyball in just a couple of months?

(Thanks for the A2A!!!)That really depends. In what situations aren’t you as strong as you liked to be?Well , for receiving , I could suggest something I used to do a lot:Get a wall (a big one , if possible) , mark a place in a wall (with a colour , your imagination , it doesn’t matter). Now you can’t be too close to the wall , make sure there is a good distance between you and it. Now throw the ball against the wall and everytime it comes back , try to make it hit the mark that you made on the wall , you can use any movement allowed in volleyball to do this. For attacking/blocking , there are 2 main things:Firstly , you need to improve your jumping. This might take some time , but don’t worry , you’ll get there. You can improve your jump by doing squats or any exercises that involve jumping. Something I used to do was jumping in and out of a bench (a low one of course , like those you see in a scholar gymnasium) while holding a 5Kg weight.Secondly , you have tom learn how to touch the ball. When attacking , it’s very important to hit the ball in a good spot and with the right part of your hand. Oh , and jumping , that's what the first point was all about. Truth is , you have to do all this while jumping , but you will soon be doing this unconsciously. Now about hitting the ball , you want to hit it with the upper center of your hand (the part where your finger start) , and in an up-down movement , so the ball hits the floor of the opposing team. Finally , we have the serve.Well , the serve is one of the easiest moves in volleyball , as all you have to do is send the ball from your side to the opponents side (but inside their court of course). There are many types of serves , but the most common for beginners , consists simply in throwing the ball up , and slapping it hard with the palm of your hand.Attention though:You must hit the ball well above your head. You have to hit the lower part of the ball so it goes up.And , you have to do this with a clean and horizontal move , so the ball goes exactly where you pointed at , or where you wanted it to go.Hope this helped!

What are some volleyball tips for a libero?

Talk, talk, talk. Make sure it’s clear to your teammates which balls are out of your zone, and they need to take those. This is usually a small part, and there is a big zone where you can take them but your teammates can take them easier. DON’T COUNT ON THAT. Make sure you’re in position to dig those anyway. If your teammates take them, fine, but if they drop it’s your fault.

How do I train myself to become a setter in a volleyball team?

Setters are the "play makers" of their teams. You have to be able to take any pass, good or bad, and turn it into an opportunity for a teammate to attack the ball. You have to smart about how you play and where you place the ball. I'm going to assume you know how to play volleyball and how to set and want to improve skills related to the specific setter position. Here are the things I'd recommend based on my experiences:Fundamentals - I cannot stress this enough! When I was first learning to set, I remember thinking that the drills were useless, because I was doing okay and that I "knew how to set". I wish I had spent more time on that! Take the time to make sure you have the footwork correct. Pay attention to hand position, levelness, and height. Make sure you always square your shoulders and set correctly. This is especially important if you follow a similar path that I did - I went from playing on a women's net to setting for men's and coed teams, both of which have higher nets than women's leagues.Vary your sets - Learn how to do different kinds of sets. Most setters set the outside hitter (high and forward) and middle hitter (high and in the middle), but being able to do different kinds of sets makes you a valuable asset to your team. It allows you to make plays! After you have the easier sets down, try a backset. Try doing some quicker sets. Learn how to set for backrow hits. You'll have to practice this with your teammates, but even just being able to do them is helpful.Learn to read blockers and opposing team positions - This comes with experience. If you're playing a team and you notice that they have one position that is constantly blocked, figure out where to divert the opposing team's attention. If you notice a giant hole in the middle of the defense, let your hitters know. Play with tips and dinks and learn to be sneaky.Practice setting from different places on the court - One of the toughest times is when your team gets "out of system". When a pass goes awry, a good setter knows how to get the ball back in play and in place for an attack. Practice setting from different places on the court and facing different directions. You might need to do a bump set in some situations.Training to be a setter takes time! It doesn't happen overnight. One of the best ways to get better is to keep playing. Be confident and try your best. Good luck!

How do I become a good volleyball player?

Played many tournaments won most of them. I started this game game when I was in class 8th, luckily I had an excellent coach. The one n the only thing he said us was discipline towards the game would make you to learn.  The following things he made us to do. 1. Warmup : 30 minutes of light warmup, we used to jogg n do few drills,  followed by 30 mins  of heavy exercise. 2. He used to bring heavy basketball for finger practice, n said said us to do 2000 lifts. In break of 500. This was the toughest. We didn't skip we used to do whatever he had said., it made our shoulder and fingers strong.3. A stick tied with a stone at the middle we used to roll it up it made our wrist strong. 4. Game was the only thing which we played at the the end . He made us strong initially and later he worked us on the teamwork. Alas we won many tournaments. 5. After the game we used to climb stairs without a break. Followed by relaxing exercise, n we would breakup. A tip for you is. 1. Be disciplined on whatever tip you follow. 2. Practice on Wall it improves your reflection. 3. Always bend while taking a ball. Make this has an habit. 4. Do pushup as much as can u do. Our coach used to make us to do pushup during match if we make an mistake. 5. Talk with teammates at every point of the match. 6. Don't show ur aggression against any of your teammate. 7. Do jump at least 500 jumps it makes you  feel confident. All the  best.

Any tips to get on a club volleyball team?

Bright colored shirt. It makes them look at you more.
And i just wanted to say that what 1396 said isn't always true. In my club volleyball region there is only one team out of about 300 teams that does that. Not all club's idea is too make money, most like having fun.
p.s.-sorry i'm late, but i didn't know if you'd still need help with maybe any other tryouts

I need volleyball tips!?

Oooooh, you must have cool friends! Volleyball is the BEST, you will have so much fun! I have played for three years, and I am going to play during my last three years of High School...it's the greatest! I will try to explain everything about this fantastic sport to you!

There are six players on the court at one time. Your team must use a series of three hits to return the ball over the net (a fairly simple concept.) Bump, set, spike. These are the three main ways to pass the ball. When passing (bumping), keep your arms together, and perfectly straight. Do NOT swing at the ball, only a small type of "shrug" is necessary. Setting is done by the setter, who in a sense, "pops" the ball into the air, and normally in the direction of a middle, right side, or left side hitter, using only her fingertips.
The hitter, or spiker, approachs the ball, begining at the hitting line (10 foot line), using a series of three steps. For a right handed player, the steps are left-right-left. For a left handed player, the steps are right-left-right. The server puts the ball into play from behind the serving line, and must not step over the line until the ball is served. A serve that is unreturned, or in other words, is served by one team, and bounces off the ground on the other side before someone can get to it, is called an Ace. If a player touches the ball, but it flies off in some odd direction, this is also an Ace.
The game ends at 25 points, and the best two out of three wins the match (in JV.) In Varsity, the best three out of five wins the match. However, a team must win by two or more points, or the game will continue until someone does. If you have any other questions about the rules, fundamentals, or anything else concerning volleyball, you can email me at heart_446@yahoo.com, I'd be happy to help! I hope that you will consider joining the team next year, you will have a blast! Good luck, and have fun!

What are some tips for setting in Volleyball?

Hi Wilfred,From a pure technical perspective, work on your hand, wrist, arm and leg positioning when you are setting.Almost every volleyball skill starts from proper footwork. As a setter you want to be ahead of the ball. Depending on how your passers are, most of the time it is better to anticipate the worst pass and you make it better for your hitters. To accomplish that you need to always be ahead of the ball. Always get to the net first, if you get a bad pass away from the net then you can react. If you get the perfect pass, you can deliver the perfect set and run your offense properly, with all hitters potentially getting the set. If you get an out of system pass, getting ahead of the ball is even more crucial to your delivery of a good set.Next is your arm positioning. Focus on having your arms loose and ready to explode or push the set to your target. It has been called - like having teh arms of a T-Rex, relaxed shoulder and in front, ready to go up and meet the ball.Hands, last but not the least, cup the ball just above your head. I tend to ask setters to focus on getting the set started from just above their heads. This way setting forward to your Left Side, running the Middle, or setting the Opposite, looks the same from the start. As a setter part of your responsibility is to deceive the blockers or open up your hitters to a one on one blocking situation. Or even better totally no blocker. Hand positioning is key to this delivery. Practice setting from the same arm and hand position while delivering to all your targets. The flow should be legs, pushing up, followed by the arms and last the hands. It has to be fluid and explosive. Your starting position is key if you are jump setting or setting from the ground.Simple practice that we do is called a 50 - 50 ball against a wall. This is similar to a boxer hitting a punching bag, and creating the rhythm. Take a ball, stand about 2 feet from a wall, hands above, almost extended. Take the ball set it to a target, you have about 5 maybe 6 inches of movement to the ball. Objective is to set the ball in the same pace, rhythm against the wall 50 straight times, without breaking the rhythm or dropping the ball. As you get better your objective is to do this fast and in synch. You can add movement of your feet while still maintaining the rhythm. Before I play I try to do 200. It loosens my wrist and hands.Good Luck and keep practicing.

What are some good volleyball drills to do alone?
