How To Be Fired From Your Job At A Catholic Institution It Is Easier

Uncle was fired from his job at a Catholic school after 35 years & now he won't get his pension. Is this an example of God's forgiveness?

So my uncle was an equipment manager at a Catholic high school in upstate New York. He made a dumb decision and had an affair with another teacher. When the school found out they fired him under their "morality code" and revoked his pension.

Without that pension there's no way he can retire. In fact, it looks like he'll have to work until he dies. This seems like a MASSIVE overreaction designed to save the school money on pension costs.

Mess up once and we'll abandon you... is that really the message the Catholic church wants to send?

A Catholic school teacher lied and lied and lied. If God exists, why doesn't God punish him and fire him from the Catholic school?

Well, it’s the job of his boss to fire him, not God, since God didn’t hire him in the first place. That would usually be the school principal. Has anyone told the principal about this teacher’s behavior? As to whether God will “punish” the teacher in other ways, I suspect the teacher’s behavior will lead to unhappiness in his profession, frustration, lost relationships and friendships. Our sinfulness punishes ourselves for the most part. It also hurts our communities and friends, which rebounds on us as well. That’s the way God built the universe. He doesn’t usually have to send plagues. He does, however, need people to be good principals, and teachers, and cops, and parents and…

Do you agree with the Catholic School in Pennsylvania that just fired a teacher who is unmarried and became pregnant? Is this justified legally and morally?

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree with the decision. This is neither the first not last case like this. She is not the Virgin Mary, she did not just “become pregnant” she engaged in sexual activities outside of Sacramental Marriage. It is likely legally and especially morally justified. Most Catholic schools have a morality contact, which specifies the code of behaviour faculty must uphold. Which basically cites Catholic morality, which one is expected to lead by example. This contact would prohibit:Unmarried persons in a relationship living togetherPregnant outside of marriageProcuring an abortionHomosexual relationshipsStripping, production of pornography, and prostitutionDrug and alcohol abuseProtests or activities contrary to Catholic teachingAnd a plethora more.If the person willingly and voluntarily signed the agreement, they are expected to abide by the agreement, if the consequence of not following the contract is termination, it should be no surprise. The First Amendment protects religion. If the person wants to be a representative of that religion, they must follow the rules of that religion.

Why has the Catholic School in Toronto not fired this Filipino teacher?

I think you need to take a step back, and check out the normal complaint process, starting with the teacher and principal. If you commence a complaint, peppered with your judgement of the situation, as opposed to facts, it will be discounted. Gather the observable facts of the situation, and present those instead. You have used the term “treacherous” and stated this teacher failed the student on purpose, and then pointed out the nationality. But, this is your conclusion, it is in no way a fact. And, the nationality of the teacher is irrelevant, bringing this up only impairs the viability of your complaint.Lastly, you should realize that no teacher is in the direct employ of of the Ontario government, though they fund school boards, they do not hire or fire teachers. This is the complaint process, defined on the webpage of the Ontario College of Teachers, the regulatory board which oversees professional conduct and standards:Complaints Process

Is public school easier or harder than catholic school?

I'm a high school student, currently a sophomore in catholic school. I may have ADHD, or some other type of learning disability but I'm not sure. Up to about 6th grade I was an honor roll student, until I transferred to catholic school in 7th. My grades saw a huge decline. Thing is, I consider myself a bright guy. I always had straight A's and I even attended a gifted and talented program in Montclair University when i was 7, whilst i was living in another state. Catholic high school is becoming pretty difficult for me. Freshman year i had a 2.3 GPA and currently i have an abysmal 1.4 GPA. I'm thinking about transferring to the local high school to see if i can actually get good grades with other average people around me instead of the high overachievers. I don't want to waste my parent's 15,000 $ a year going to a catholic school when i'm not working to my full potential. I need good advice. What should I do?

How do I become a better Catholic?

The goal is charity and unity with God, because that's the purpose of being Catholic. So you can start by doing your "daily job" well. Whatever it is-- parenting ( as in my case) your job, your volunteering-- whatever it is that gets you out of bed, in the morning, resolve to do it better.Secondly, practice self-denial. When you smother your own ego, you make room for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is what operates graces inside your soul. The graces in your soul are what lead to more virtue, more good choices, more graces. It doesn't have to be anything extraordinary. So if you're asked to clear the dishes, and you don't want to clear the dishes, here's a golden opportunity to smother your ego, smother your "self" (as it's called in traditional spirituality). This is mortification. Third, practice humility. Humility is seeing things as God sees them, truthfully. It's not about purposeful self-abasement. It's about understanding how good God is, and that in comparison, you don't stack up. And this comparison is meant to make you understand how far you need to go. Humility gives the impetus to keep the self in check, and be open to more mortification and more graces.Others wrote about sacraments, reading, prayer. These are all good, too.I'm almost tempted to write a treatise because there's so much to say on this subject. I'd say that constant reading of the great Catholic writers on spiritual life is almost a must, because they really understand what it takes to be a saint, and it's hard to express in a few hundred words. One book that I thought was really useful was Louis de Granada's The Sinner's Guide. He's not as well-known as some, but his book is really a gem for someone just starting out in the practice of Catholic spirituality. Catholic Treasury | The Sinner's Guide

Catholic school Ontario vs public school?

Just before my kids started school I explained the beliefs of all major religions to them including atheism.

When my youngest was a junior, he came out of school looking a bit disgusted. I ask him what was wrong and he said that some Christian told him that he was going to burn in hell for eternity for not believing in their particular flavor of God.

I said, don't you remember we talked about that before? He said, Yes I remember you saying it but it never occurred to me that you were actually serious.

I realized that He assumed that I was kidding because the idea seemed so preposterous.

You need to prepare them for the things they are going to hear.

Is the Coop Admission test for catholic high school hard or easy?

my sister took the COOP and I took the TACHS exam which is pretty much the same thing, my sister did well on her coop and i got like a 92 percentil on tachs which was really easy
the exam is scored based on percentile with 45-55 percentile being average 55+ above average and 45- below average
you should try to get at least in the 70th percentil which will get you in to a decent school but trying to go higher is better, you can probably get in the 80s without breaking a sweat
scholarship is completely different from acceptance
its depends on the school but for most, the general rule is that it is moderate-easy to get into a school, however, if your looking for a scholarship, you need a really high grade for most schools, 95 percentile + although some schools may give small amounts of money to low 90 percentile, any schools that say they give scholarships to 80 percentiles are most likely lying
your grades seem fine for the most part...pretty well balanced,, and they do mean a lot in the admission process, however, when it comes down to the most important thing, its the COOP/TACHS exam score.
tips: answer every question even if its guess, im ALMOST POSITIVE that you don't loose points for wrong answers but you may want to check that, of course pace yourself accordingly, don't spend too much time reading a passage or anything, maybe read the questions first, also eat a decent breakfast (no sugary stuff) and lastly and most importantly RELAX and SLEEP, also make sure your there on time, you don't want to go into panic mode right before the exam
remember this isnt the SAT or anything and its not like a really hard exam, its pretty simple actually, just make sure you follow those tips and you'll be fine
i used KAPLAN for TACHS and got a 92 so i assume KAPLAN does a pretty good job!
I'm not sure about the calculator thing but bring one with you and they will tell you there, another thing i found useful was meeting early and talking to friends before the exam, trust me, it really calms you down a hell of a lot! anyway, i assume your taking this tomorrow, sorry if i am too late but good luck and relax!

Should a single teacher be fired for getting pregnant?

When I taught at Catholic school, I had to sign a contract that said I would live according to the tenets of the Catholic Church (at least in the ways that my students would know about). I definitely would have been asked to resign if I'd found myself pregnant, but I knew that when I signed the contract.
(My colleague, who was a single mother, was able to work at the school because she had already had her child before signing her contract.)

If a "no-extramarital-pregnancy" clause is not in a teaching contract, the school has no grounds on which to fire a pregnant single teacher, regardless of whether the school is public or private.

Why are most Catholic girls so easy and promiscuous?

As if they are different from any other school out there. They aren't any easier. People these days are just highly promiscuous.
