How To Be Really Smart

Do i have to be really smart to be an FBI agent?

Do you have to be smart? Well, I suppose "smart" is a relative term, but, yeah, you do need to be smart, as judged by the entrance exams and interviews.

Also, you need to be educated, with at least a bachelor’s degree. It used to be that the preferred major was law, but now, degrees in accounting, computers, and/or a foreign language (Middle-Eastern dialects, especially, these days) are also very high on the list.

As one might expect, with the amount of paperwork involved in this career, you language skills will be very important, and judging by your question, I would highly advise that you look into additional education in that area; proper use of capitalization, punctuation, grammar, spelling, and sentence structure are all very important when it comes to writing reports, documenting evidence, and testifying in court.

Here's a good source of information regarding this career path: http://www.fbi.gov/employment/booklet/general.htm

I, myself, work as a police officer (and, no, you do not have to be a police officer first), and I am acquainted with some FBI special agents. As far as what their life is like, well, it's not like what you see in the movies or TV. There is a lot of tedious and meticulous, and quite often, boring, work involved. Like any law enforcement job, it requires adaptability and resourcefulness, and you will sometimes have to deal with odd and varied hours. Also, with the FBI, you will be required to be open to assignment anywhere in the USA, or even to other countries. Again, like any law enforcement job, but to maybe greater degrees, the life of an FBI Special Agent can be a very stressful one, and can take a toll on your personal health and well-being, as well as on your relationships. Law enforcement professionals of all stripes have some of the highest divorce and substance abuse rates of any profession.

Do you have to be really smart to become a EMT?

As a once EMT now Paramedic...I can answer any questions you have. School is usually 2 terms or whatever meets National Registry criteria but you will have a few core classes you will need. Being smart is not the issue, its memorization. You will have protocols set in place and if you follow those protocols and training you'll be fine. You'll start know that when a patient has a fever, high blood pressure and heart rate what might be causing it...it just takes motivation to ask to get involved and you'll learn fast

How can I train myself to be really really smart?

Lot of people below have given brilliant answers...My idea is simple if you want to become really smart - you should have an opinion on almost anything current. The opinion should not be mere superficial verbal diarrhea. It should be an honest thought on the topic. You can't develop this skill overnight. It needs hours of efforts put into studying and reading about stuffs even when they are not relevant to your current job/study. Read quora for ten random topics everyday, read any newspaper top to bottom, pick up a magazine while waiting for bus/train/flight and devour the opinions of other great people on various topics. Pick up a book fiction or non fiction that everyone is talking about and try to read it. If not alteast try to read the summary of the book in Wikipedia. Over a period of time you will start accumulating facts and knowledge to give your opinions.  Always be curious, if you don't know something tell you don't know and take an effort to learn it. Always be a student of anything you do in life. Slowly from being an effort it will be become who you are and you will be defined by the plethora knowledge you accumulate.

Do i have to be really smart to be an architect?

Hi Rob,
"Being intelligent and knowing art and how to apply math, although most mathematical computations are being worked out by computers now-a-days. A fundamental understanding of computers along with the ability to visualize abstract concepts in 3D, + model making + good communication skills + understanding of, and experience in, building construction + the enjoyment of details with a slight OCD compulsion + self confidence + ability to learn (forever) + fundamental understating of finances + acceptance that you'll probably never be financially rich."

"In order to become an architect, you will need to earn at least a bachelor’s degree. All of the state architecture boards require graduates to also complete at least a 3-year internship before taking the architecture licensing exam. Architects should have an aptitude for math and excellent written and verbal communication skills. They should be able to work closely with clients, engineers, and designers during all steps of a project."

"Other skills or qualities which are considered to be assets for an architect include having general knowledge about the history of architecture, having awareness for environmental factors, having the ability to be an analytical thinker, and having a great imagination."

Architect Program Curriculum

"Architecture programs generally include courses in building and materials construction, architectural history and theory, graphic design using computer aided design, mathematics, physical sciences and professional practice. In-class learning can be complemented by work in a design studio, where students implement what they've learned to create drawings and three-dimensional models."

Good luck with it,
Jeff

Do you have to be really smart to be a Police Officer?

That depends on what you consider "really smart". You usually have to be at least smart enough to pass any required written tests and complete a police academy. You must learn a lot in a relatively short amount of time during the academy. How well you do on written tests can be very important when trying to get police officer jobs. Make sure to prepare for any tests. It is important to be intelligent, and it is important to have common sense. Getting police officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. Do whatever you can to make yourself the best candidate that you can. For example, don't do anything illegal, maintain a good reputation, keep a good driving record, don't get bad credit, improve all of your communication skills as much as possible, practice to improve your observation and memory skills, and become as physically fit as you can. Best of luck!

Are Mensa people really smart?

The requirement to join Mensa is that they are in the top 2 percent of the world population in terms of IQ. While it is debatable whether IQ represents what a person's overall mental capabilities or not, it is most likely, depending on your definition of smart, that Mensa members are smarter than your average neighbor.

How to say "You're really smart" in Korean?

Informal:
넌 진짜 똑똑 neon jeongmal ttokttok

With formal, I don't know if you want honorifics or not, so I'll include both:
non honorific:
[name] 씨 똑똑해요 [name] sshi ttokttokaeyo
Honorific:
[name] 씨 똑똑하세요 [name] sshi ttokttokaseyo

If it's obvious who you're talking about you could drop '넌' or '[name]씨'
