How To Become A Good Impromptu Speaker

How can I elaborate more eloquently in impromptu speaking?

There are many ways to elaborate a point in an impromptu speech. I will give you a small subset.Suppose you want to make the point “we should all be nicer”.Use complex words and sentence structuresPeople are predisposed to find an argument more convincing if it is presented with more complex words and sentences. Instead of reciting the original thesis, try something like “kindness, generosity, and a recognition of our interconnectedness are the keys to creating a better world.”Use supporting evidenceDraw on your knowledge base and come up with a quote, and anecdote, or some information that can support your point. For example, you may say: “we can observe in evolution that cooperative and altruistic species tend to thrive better than species that are solitary and selfish. Especially in today's world, our survival depends heavily on our ability to love and cherish one another.”Use metaphoric languageSometimes, rephrasing a statement in metaphoric language will increase the audience's emotional connection to your point. To someone who is hostile to your thesis it may appear cheesy, but with a sympathetic audience this can be effective. Try something like: “the greatest accomplishments of our civilization are not solitary endeavors. They are symphonies in which each of us are but a fleeting note. Only when each of us do our part can the music achieve its true beauty. Thus we must remember to help and support one another, because only then can we accomplish great things”.

What makes Barack Obama a good leader ?

Obama is a good leader because he can negogiate with world leaders in a peaceful way yet be strong when he needs to be. Obama is working for us for a change not just the rich folks but the everyday folks for a change.

Necessary healthcare reform.

The economy is starting to better itself all due to Obama
Obama knows our America is multicultural not just white.
Ignore the ignorance from the right, they are just bitter old fools.

obama was voted in by America not just blacks. That is really a lame attempt to make it look it was color based which is all BS

How do you become president?

Lol your only a kid...

Join a debating team and work on your speaking skills impromptu because thats what politicans (especially presidents) need to be good at. Watch the debates of Kennedy-Nixon on Youtube, the way Kennedy spoke was brilliant. Also the Obama-McCain debates were excellent too.

You need to be presentable as a President, make sure you don't do anything stupid to get arrested or a criminal record, and have a good track record. Being a lawyer is a good choice, because lawyers usually make good politicians.

You do not need to be in the senate or a governor to run for president (but it'd obviously help if you were). Anyone born in the US that is at least 35 years old can be elected. This includes governors, lawyers, and the unemployed, that's why Donald Trump could run for President, but Obama sort of owned him with the Bin Laden death.

Your height, your religion or the color of your skin shouldn't have anything to do with your political career, in a free, tolerable and generous America. Yet, we don't live in this dream world. People hate all politicians, but look at history...they said Kennedy would never be president because he's Catholic...he ended up being one of our best. Robert Kennedy, his brother was only like 5'9'' and he ran for president in 1968 and probably would have won (but he got shot). Similarly, in the '60's, if you were to tell someone that there would be an African American president one day, and he's alive right now, they'd think your crazy. Anything can happen in the United States, we reward hard work and merit! That's why, were the best country in the world.

Good luck with your future ambitions, but know that a living a public and political life is difficult, you might loose at first, but never give up.

Why are some people better public speaker than others?

I think it is because some people are self sssured and enjoy the stage whilst they are on it. That stage has their name on it and they own it. They are bold, loud, assertive, full of energy, super hyper, they are jubilant and have developed themselves. They have mastered the art of public speaking. They have the best stage presence than those who are uncomfortable on stage. They use all of their developed public speaking skills to their advantage. They know when to: use a hand gesture, use vocal variety, use a pause, use a prop, use a visual aid, use their body language and this is what puts them in the better than category.I joined Toastmasters in February last year, because I want to become a public speaker. I have worked hard on myself each and every day, developing myself and learning new skills since June 2011. My fellow Toastmasters have given me tremendous feedback on my prepared and impromptu speeches. They all enjoy my stage presence and most of them have commented on how my vocal variety is simply the best in our club. Some of them have commented on how confident I come across on stage.

Why do people criticize Obama for using a teleprompter?

I think the issue was not that he used the teleprompter, but that he was unable to discern that he was reading something intended for the other speaker.

Most of us would like to perceive our nation's leader as astute enough to think quickly and react with competence in the face of a small issue. If he can not think on his feet in that controlled situation, what will he do when a real crisis comes his way.

For me, it makes me feel terribly insecure that our "LEADER" could not stop himself from reading a 'thank you Mr. President' on the teleprompter.

At least, the last president was fast thinking and was able to quickly 'dodge' a shoe with a genuine smile and affable attitude. I shudder to think what this president would have done in that situation.

His stammering without the teleprompter is much preferred to his inability to actually 'think' about what he is reading.
