Hello I am currently attending in community college and i want to become a video game producer. how can i become one? What should i major? Are there any tips for becoming a V.G.P.?
What steps should I take to be a video game producer?
There are two different producer positions in the video game industry.A producer at a game publisher is the liaison between the game studio developing the game and the publisher that is funding, marketing and distributing it. The producer may determine what products to develop; contract studios to develop projects; monitor the product’s development to ensure that it is being developed on time, on schedule, and be of the expected quality; and coordinate the publisher’s legal, finance, marketing, sales, operations, and quality assurance department’s involvement in the project. Some of the larger publishers see value in producers having an MBA degree, particularly if they are Executive Producers overseeing an entire game franchise.Then there’s the producer at a game studio, although that position is also called development director or project manager. That position is responsible for managing the development team, which often includes hiring (and firing), defining and assigning tasks, coordinating development activities, monitoring progress, problem mitigation, and reporting to studio management and the publisher’s producer. Some studios see value in producers having Project Management Professional and/or Scrum (or other agile methodology) certification.In either position, it is essential to understand the game development process and pipeline. Many game producers started their careers as programmers, designers, artists or even quality assurance testers.I suggest taking at least a few courses in programming and digital art, reading everything you can on Gamasutra, downloading Unreal and Unity and try making a game level, learning a project management methodology, and maybe volunteering to help a student or indie game development team.

Firs things first: What are the studios currently operating out of Israel?There’s bound to be a couple out there, even if very small ones.Next, look at their job postings. Are any of them hiring producers/project managers? If so, get your resume polished, and apply.Alternatively, there’s bound to be some game events in Israel. Seek them, and network with the people in there. Don’t go looking for a job, just look to make friends and enjoy the event.If you have some money saved up, you can always fund your own project. Assemble a small creative team, come up with a proposal, build it, sell it, make some money, fund the next project etc.Good luck.

entering game design doesn't require game design school programs exactly in fact many people in game design start in graphic design, where they learn how to make their own graphics and CG. If anything find a cheap school with a program for graphic design branch out to game design while in that class then try to transfer to a better school preferably one with a game design class.
