How To Burn Movies Onto A Disc

I need to burn a movie which takes up 4.48 GB onto a disk where it says 4.37 available. help?

You need a disk which has enough space available for the files. You really do not need to go to the expense of purchasing a multimedia creation suite such as Nero or Roxio to create nice projects or simply copy a video or music to a CD or DVD. Windows comes with these abilities built-in, and though perhaps not as robust or feature rich as one of those suites can work nicely.

Compression does lose quality, especially HD quality. When compressing a multimedia file it is compressed by deleting certain portions of the file. Sometimes the portions deleted truly do not detract from the overall file itself, but these types are usually text files, not sound, photo or video. This is why an .mp3 file has poorer quality than does a .wma. While .mp3 is fine to listen too if you are prepared for the loss quality and indeed takes up far less than half the space a larger bit .wma file does, the fact remains the quality is reduced, and that quality can never be recovered, not from that format. If you have your original video, music, or photo files on hand, then there isn't anything to stop from using the lesser quality.

If you don't care if you lose quality and simply cannot afford to buy a stack of new DVD disks, then by all means compress it with a utility. However, if you can afford some new DVD disks, and will not have the original video disk on hand in the future, or stored in its original format on an internal or external hard disk, buy them. Or, you could ask around and see if a family member or friend has one you could use.

Please note that they type of DVD disk you use will have an affect on your ability to play the disk in external DVD players. Here is a Wikipedia page you can review to ensure you burn to the correct DVD disk which allows for playing in external DVD players:

Can you burn Wii games onto a disk?

First, if you want to play a burned games on your Wii, you must softmod/hack your wii so you can download some important things on your wii in order to play burned discs. Most of the wiis which are made after 2008 will not work on burned discs, so make sure you have the right Wii. DVD-R or DVD+R will work on Wii, so make sure you have one of those. You also need a DVD burner software and some ISO game files on your pc, so you can burn the ISO file to the DVD by using the DVD burner.

Tip: Youtube and Google are your friends. Find some tutorials that teach you how you can softmod your wii easily. Also check your Wii version, so you'll know what is the right thing for you to download and use.

Where can I get a DVD over 20GB that I can burn a movie onto?

There is no such thing as a 20GB DVD. The DVD spec maxes out at ~9GB for a dual-layer disc. The spec allows for a dual-sided, dual layer discs at around 18GB total storage but I do not believe any of these have ever been made in a writable format. The vast majority of writable discs are 4.7GB, as you have seen. Dual-layer writable discs are available, for example:Amazon.com: High Quality 8.5 GB Blank DVD+R DL - DVD+R Falcon Vision Smart 2P White Inkjet Hub Printable 8x 8.5GB 50 Disc Cakebox Dual Layer Blank DVDs: ElectronicsHowever note that not all DVD RW drives support writing to dual-layer discs.“16x” refers to the maximum supported write speed, with “1x” being approximately equal to the playback speed/bandwidth of DVD video. The real question here might be how did you come up with a 20GB movie? This is way more data than would typically be required for any normal length DVD-formatted movie. If you have a rip or download of a movie sourced from Blu-Ray, you will need to re-convert that down to DVD format (or at least a compressed format that can fit within the size of a DVD) or burn it to a Blu-Ray disc using a Blu-Ray capable RW drive.

Error with burning a movie onto a dvd-rw disc with convertxtodvd?

Well... Hm.

You're right about one thing, your disks aren't the problem.

It's either your drive or your program, and I'm betting it's your program.
I know you don't want to hear it, but it'd probably be best to switch to something like DVD Flick. Or really, any other program. There are plenty of free ones.

I guess you should just check your settings, make sure it's burning to the right place at a speed it can handle.

Can I burn several mp4 files onto one disc?

I don’t know of any reason why not. But if you do, I’m not sure you can then set it up to play like a factory movie DVD. I think if you have multiple .mp4 files on the disc, then you have to open the disc as a data disc, and play the movies manually. But to be honest I am far from an expert on such things :( I do know that if i burn multiple .mp3 music files on to a single CD or DVD disc i have to open the disc to browse its contents before I can play any of the music files. I believe the same situation would apply to .mp4 movie files.

Please help!!! Can you burn a movie onto a CD-R, or just DVD-R?

So I wanted to burn a movie that I ripped onto my laptop (using Handbrake) onto a blank DVD. But is it possible to burn it on to a blank CD-R instead? Will it be watchable on a DVD player? And can it be opened on a laptop and watched there? I don't really understand how this works, so if someone could explain it to me, I would really appreciate it. And what is the difference between a regular CD/DVD and a data CD/DVD?

Thank you sooooo much for your help!!

I have a movie that i am trying to burn to disc please help?

you don't have a dvd file to begin with so no need for dvd disc....

you have either a divx or xvid compressed version of the movie. if it's around 700MB just burn it to a regular cd using vcd mode. Nero is pretty good at that. Usually anything larger than 700 megs is split into 2 parts so you shouldn't have any trouble there.

if you burn with video cd mode it will play on any standard progressive scan dvd player. The video is highly compressed but depending on how well the encoding was done it can be satisfactory. If you want the actual dvd file then you'll have to download the dvd disc image...usually around 4GB size to fit on a single layer disc
