Can the police track a pinger number?
I prank called my teacher a lot on my ipod touch under a pinger number on the text free app. She said she called the police last night. I am really scared. What information can the police find? What do you suggest I do other than telling the teacher it was me? Also, the pinger username has my name in it.
Can the police track your number even if you change your number?
If the police are currently using your phone records as part of an investigation, yes. If they are beginning one, they can find out who your provider is and obtain a search warrant for your new number. If you're asking in a general sense, like they need to call you about something and you have changed your number and not given it to them, then no. They could only obtain your number if they contacted someone who had it and that person gave it to them willingly.
Can the police trace a fake number?
I have been getting phone calls and texts from fake numbers. People are using apps to mask their actual number and I was just wondering even though all that is happening, is there any way the police can find out who it is even with the numbers being hidden? Is there any way they can use the calls I have gotten to trace it back to the IP of the computer that it came from? I'm really sick of the harassment and I want it to end, I'd also like to found out who is the one actually pranking me and messing with me because they are saying some horrible personal things.

Would The Police Trace You For A Prank Call?
The cops don't have to trace prank calls any more. Most businesses have Caller ID, and won't even pick up the phone for a blocked number. And it's not the cops you have to worry about. It's the phone companies. They can and will prosecute prank callers. They did it even back in MY teen years, and that was in the 70s, when they had to pay to trace calls. Some teens did it a lot, and then when it all caught up with them, their parents had to pay some pretty big fines.
How do the police track location via phone number or IMEI number without the use of any application installed on the user's cell phone?
I'll explain it so that a layman will also understand it: When your phone is off, police contacts your service provider to give the details of calls made in a specific duration of time. So they can get last location of yours from there. This is basically because you connect to a tower of the service provider to make calls/SMS/etc and the provider records the same. Therefore, some details regarding the call, your phone and the tower are stored with the company.When your phone is on, police can track you through triangulation, as mentioned in one of the other answers. Again, you're connected to a tower and can be detected easily.Apart from this, police can get the documents you submitted while buying the SIM card and get your details from there.Also, android keeps a track of location history by default. That too can be used if police is able to get access to it through Google etc.IMEI is of a phone (and a dual-sim phone has 2 IMEI). Every time you make a call, your IMEI is taken note of by the service provider, which is reflected in the details of calls as mentioned in Point 1.You can be tracked by IMEI or Phone number as both are recorded in call details.
Can cops track pinger phone numbers?
My really good friend recently got with a guy who is trying to get a divorce (i don't need any feedback for this because i don't care what you have to say about the situation of her choices i'm just giving back story and the situation is really none of my business) apparently the ex wants him back and is really depressed and has been giving her the guilt trip. as of recently all three of them have acquired a stalker who has been threatening to "destroy" my friend and her cat AND the ex wife. the guy thinks its the ex wife trying to get a rise out of them so they'll stop seeing each other or even a friend of the wife's but we are not sure. my friend blocks the numbers they text from and they get a new number and continue harassing her. we weren't sure how until she told them to stop and got a text back saying you can stop Pinger texts from that person. this person also harasses her by calling from unknown numbers and staying silent on the other line. Not only that but the person also texts saying that they are outside of her work on occasion. Her boyfriend said that him and his ex wife called the cops and they said there's nothing they can do about it. Didn't mention at the time that they were being threatened. and apparently this person is now harassing the guy on text messages and calling and staying silent. I just need some answers on if police can track the numbers to the Pinger account even though they keep getting a new number and if it really will help to call the cops.

so.... this restricted call keeps calling us and prank phone calling us. we kinda wanna call the police but 1st we wanna know if they can track down the number. and if u prank phone call som1 and they find u will they send u to jail?? can they send u to jail for a prank phone call? the ppl sed underpants and just laughed in the phone but they called like 7 times. thanx guys!
How do the police track your phone?
Some of my friends at school took my phone and prank called someone. At first I was just annoyed at them but then a private number called me saying that they knew where I was and that they were tracking my phone and were going to come to my door when I get home. I don't really want the police to show up at my door so can I shut down my phone all the way and it wont be tracked or do I have to take out the battery or something.
