How To Call The Police Or Government Because I Don

I found child porn. Should I call the police?

Found a site containing child porn, but Google won't let me report a site unless it contains child abuse, and I didn't see any abuse; I only saw Omegele-ish stuff with nudity. Should I call the police? I feel bad because I don't think the mentally ill that DL the stuff or access the site belong in jail. I'm also worried that I may get into trouble because I accessed the site (I don't have any of that crap downloaded on my phone though).

How can I call the police online?

Call 311 instead of 911.
911 is for emergencies only.
311 is for non-emergency situations.
Just call and tell them that your neighbors are being overly loud and you'd like someone to get them to stop. They'll send someone and say that there have been reports of excessive noise. They won't mention your name though.

When to call the police?

I live in a second floor apartment of a three-story building and the people above me are constantly making noise. This wouldn't bother me so much if the noises weren't sometimes terrifying. Just a couple of minutes ago I heard loud screams of someone clearly in pain or distress. Along with loud, heavy walking. This is the first time there's been screaming, but I hear arguing a lot of the time, sounding a lot like a man and woman arguing. I don't know them nor have I ever seen them. Should I be calling 911 or the local police? Should I stay out of it in case they're a psycho who might try hurting me?

Will the police respond if you call 911 and stay on the line but don't say anything?

If I called 911 and then just stayed on the line without saying anything, would they come? Or would they assume it was a prank/accidental call and ignore it?

I've always been curious about that because sometimes if I'm home alone, I get paranoid about what would happen if someone broke in or something. In which case, I probably couldn't talk to the 911 dispatcher or they would hear me talking and find me (if I was trying to hide or something).

Luckily, no one has ever broken in or anything (knock on wood) but it doesn't mean that it couldn't happen... I just want to know, *just in case*...

And also, how long would it take to track down your address by GPS if you're calling from a cell phone? I don't have a house phone in my room and I use my cell for everything. I called 911 on my cell once for a car accident outside my house and they had to ask me my address, the intersection, the township, etc and it took over 10 mins for someone to get there... (Luckily no one was hurt though).

Is it illegal if someone threatens me they will call the police with a false accusation about me? Should I call the police first and report that I have been threatened as such?

No, it’s not illegal merely to threaten to call the police with what you consider a “false accusation”. I’ve both taken these calls on 911 lines, and responded to them in the field. Calling first doesn’t mean anything at all. Many times I’ve (and any other cops) responded to a call and arrested the person who called 911. They almost always say “but I’m the one who called” or “I’m the one who called first”. Often, while one person calls, the other person also calls to “tell the real story”. People think that if they call, they’re going to automatically be granted victim status I guess…In your case, I don’t know if you mean they are threatening to call right this minute for something they allege is going on, or they texted you they’re going to tell the cops you’re a drug dealer at sometime in the future. In any event, it’s up to the police to investigate and determine if a crime occurred, and if so who committed it.. If someone knowingly, on purpose, just wanted to jam you up because they don’t like you for some reason, lied to the police, and made a false report of a crime..then they can be charged with making a false police report. Telling me about it first doesn't do much.. I’ve had people tell me that so and so might call to say I beat my kids, beat my dog, beat my wife, but I’m getting to you first so you’ll know it’s a lie. So when they call, you won’t waste your time on their lies. How do I know it’s a lie before it has been investigated? Also, keep in mind some stuff is subjective. Turns out you spank your toddler. Your neighbor who thinks all spanking is child abuse threatens to call the police.. If your neighbor says you’re abusing your kid by spanking him, it’s up to the police to determine if the spanking crosses the line into child abuse per CA penal code 273a/273b. You may consider it a “false accusation” but they may have reported what they thought was a crime in good faith. In that case, they would not be in trouble for making the false accusation.Hope that helps.

What happens if i call the police when my dad hits me?

You're 20 years old and still living with mommy and daddy? Hell, I'd throw a shoe at you too. Move out. If your father is abusive, he can't hurt you if you're not there. Your Mom will have to make her own decisions. Her choices are not your fault or your problem.

Will police call me on restricted?

The department I work for has about 25 phone numbers assigned to the officers. Only the number to dispatch is public. The rest come up restricted. We do not give out the numbers for specific officers, all calls must go through dispatch.

Are Police officers calling for donations in Lamar Mo. area,?

THIS IS A SCAM!

We have had the same problem in our area several times. No law enforcement agency will call or ask for donations. we do not operate off of charitable donations, and it is illegal to solicit for them.

So to everyone who reads this be advised that if anyone calls you asking for donations for a law-enforcement agency; DO NOT SEND ANY. It is a fraud.
