How has a second marriage changed your life?

Though I have no direct experience, I have been observing that all such people are more accommodative, less silly, more philosophical, less impulsive etc., not only towards their partner, but also to the world in general. I have also seen a few second marriages fail, but the reasons were quite serious. I therefore think second marriage makes people more sociable.

How life can change in few seconds?

Suppose you have completed your graduation from a reputed university 2 years ago but even then you don't have a satisfactory job. You work really hard but it is not very well paying job. Furthermore, you have a 3 year long relationship with your college time crush. You both are very happy with each other. Moreover, you have just bought a new apartment with your girlfriend who is also happy with her job. In short, you have a well settled life going on, your only wish is that you had a more well paying job.Suddenly, on one fine day at office, your boss calls you in his office, very impressed by your recent work, and offers you a promotion to higher position. But the job is in a different country. It is a high paid job, and also it is in your dream country. You are very happy and excited after hearing about the offer. You go home and talk to your girlfriend about it expecting that she will leave her job here and accompany you. But to your surprise she says that she loves her job here and also don't want to leave her old parents alone who lives in the same state, and you can go alone if you wish. And there you are, you have a huge life decision in front of you whether you will take the huge offer and go for a great job in your dream country or you leave the offer a live with your girlfriend.

What is a split-second decision you made that changed your life?

I failed the last year in high school and couldn't be bothered with education anymore. I was about to take a crap low pay job with some evening studies into accounting (family didn't want me to leave school all together - this was to please them). I had only one passion - trading. My family told me I was a hopeless miserable piece of existence and they weren't surprised I failed high school. My mathematics and economics teacher told me in firm words that I was an idiot and should try high school again. She told me she will apply for me to universities in London to study mathematics. She kept her word.During my first lesson back the next year she told the entire class that “this kid - me” is going to university in London if he passes with a 85% score in maths - minimum. If he does so - she would feed the entire class with cake.I passed with a 92% score in maths. She gave everyone cake. And I was called forward during graduation.Within a few months I was in London and I finished my first semester with straight A's. I did this for the entire first, second and third year, finished as top of my class and got a job before I graduated in an American financial institution working on the structured finance department.PS - when my family knew I passed my degree with straight A's they laughed at me - and told me I was an idiot for wasting so much time at high school. There was no contact until much later when my grandfather died and they visited the funeral. When I was standing in line to shake hands - they asked me why I'm not talking to them anymore. They said - they haven't done anything wrong in their opinion. They told me they were disappointed that I didnt grow up as they hoped I would do and the lack of contact is all my fault. The last they told me was that I would regret that.. I was baffled.Since then I've never seen them again. In this split second I realised that family is just something you are born with. If it wasn't for my math and economics teacher I would have never made the career I've had now. I have worked in many countries throughout the world - traveled as risk consultant everywhere (New York and and London as base) and I've met extraordinary people all over the world before I hit the age of 30. If I would have listened to family I would have been held back all my life.

What kind of ban did Second Life give me?

They ban on all three things together, and you can't change the Mac address or VSN without replacing hardware. You would have to do the following, all at once:

1) Change internet provider (to get a new IP)
2) Replace your Network card (to change the Mac address)
3) Replace the Hard drive (to change the VSN).
4) Sign up to Second Life with a new account on a new email address.

If you do all of these, do not ever, even for a moment and even in 20 years time, attempt to log in to any of your previous accounts, otherwise they will add all your new equipment to the banned list and you will have to go through steps 1-4 again.

How do I make my avatar naked in Second Life?

Have you picked up freebie skins from somewhere? There are a few with underwear 'painted' onto the skins. There are some like that from Free Dove and a couple at Bare Rose.

Assuming you are in Adult SL, and that you are under 30 days old in SL, try doing a search for Fleur Skins or Sin Skin. Both have a newbie friebie skin pack.

If you are over 30 days old ...

Do a search for Den-Dou Skins. Outside the store you will see a prize chair. If no one is sitting on it, sit on it yourself and stay there for 60 minutes and you will get a really nice Goth skin for free. To enable the chair, you must join the Itu-Tu group and there is a board with a link to the group right next to the chair. Just click on that and follow the instructions.

Do a search for Skin Within. Go there, add the store to your SL picks and then look for the gift instructions. Once the pick for Skin Within has been in your profile picks for more than 24 hours you can help yourself to some or all of the gifts in the gift room, including skins.

Belizzza offers a male or female skin in their lobby area. Again, to get the gift, you must join the group and in this case, you must have that group title activated to recieve the gift.

Many other stores offer free skins as group gifts from time to time. Recently I have been sent nice skins from TRUTH and Tuli as group gifts.

Personally, my favourite skins are from Den-Dou, Laqrokki (formerly RaC) and Belizza as these skins always look different on different avatar shapes, but the skins at Sin Skin and Fleur are pretty good too. However it's all a matter of taste. Certaily, if you can't afford to buy a skin right now, the free skins I listed are better than anything you get when you start SL and miles better than any of the other freebie skins out there.

How did life in the Congo change after Leopold the second lost control over it to the Belgian government?

I agree with Matthijs Lenaerts thoughts and suggestions.Towards independence, one issue brought up was that there were next to no college graduates. This was intentional, as the ones coming back turned out to be "half educated radicals". Anyway, this article states at 1961 there were only 16 graduates for a country of 16 million, or one grad per million Google News Archive SearchI'm sorry, at least they could have educated some hundred doctors, especially in the country. If they could not have managed that without huge trouble, then there was not much administration.Another issue was the last minute attempt at slicing off the profitable part of Katanga. Like Rhodesia, both North and South were offered independence in 1953 and the first also in 1945, the idea was that the old ways would last another hundred years. This showed in the time table of any change forecast, planned, or even grudgingly willing to be talked about. If they were going to do that, 5 or 10 years (1950) beforehand not much would have been said. As it was, the colonialist had not much a clue of their people under control or the world around them. There was, however, a lot of ground to cover:

If given a chance, what would you want a second chance with?

“A long long time agoI can still remember howThat music used to make me smileAnd I knew if I had my chanceThat I could make those people danceAnd maybe they'd be happy for a while”These few lines from the song American Pie can perfectly describe those lost moments.I had a crush on this girl from high school. Smart, charming, incredibly good looking and surely way out of my league girl. so what do i decide to do? Take the easy way out and go talk to her? naah. I manned up and sent her a friend request (on the newly discovered Facebook) just like those vikings did :p .The days which followed saw me racing my bicycle towards the internet cafe(I didn’t get a computer until 3 years later) everyday with my almost non existent allowance going down the drain. I thought maybe she didn’t notice that it was indeed me, the guy she had never noticed in class but would surely recognize on Facebook.I decided to do something about it. Not go talk to her and tell her that i wanted to be a friend of course, that would be a terrible idea. I instead decided to put a note in her bag, about accepting my friend request. :D cool right?and guess what? She did accept my request that very night. I was so high up in clouds, I could barely see why I should ever expect anything else from life.Follow up next day, that girl, that beautiful person, came up to me and asked how my test went. What did your boy say? He stared down at the empty table and mumbled something so indistinguishable that even he can’t recall what it was.So here is what I regret, I regret not going up to her at any of those moments I could have and just started a conversation. I so wish I had another chance to at least talk to her in a way humans really should.PS: This is what i wrote in the note, “Hey please accept my friend request, you’ll know who i am when you finally decide to open your Facebook account.”
