Do location services use mobile data on WiFi?

By this, i assume you mean "if I'm attached to both a cellular network, and also a WiFi network, will I use cellular data when an app requests a location?"  The short answer is that yes, it will certainly use that radio, though that data will not likely be charged to you... in the same manner that tracking which cell tower you're connected to is not charged to you. Also, if one were able to turn off the cellular radio while leaving WiFi on, such systems can provide a location anyway; they just have reduced time to first fix (TTFF), and less ability to operate in occluded locations (e.g., indoors).Details: Most location services provide an API that uses "hybrid location", an approach using a combination of cell tower/sector/signal strength, WiFi, and GPS.  While  GPS generally requires assistance data (aGPS), these days, that would be downloaded over WiFi; it's available on the public internet on hosts with names like supl . google. com (named after the protocol SUPL).  In the case of Mobile-Station-Assisted aGPS, where the handset takes the acquisition data, reference time, ephemeris, and almanac info and uses it to submit calculations to the GMLC (or similarly-named component), it must do so over the cellular radio -- this component is *not* visible on the public internet, and thus not over WiFi.  But, again, it likely wouldn't charge that to the user; it'd be handled in the "control plane" not "user plane".A caveat though -- the OS/phone might be setup (by the OEM/manufacturer, possibly assuming a certain carrier) such that, even on WiFi, the preferred (network) route to the GPS assistance data is via the cell network, but, the actual carrier may not have whitelisted the server on their access point (APN).  Basically, there is a chance you'd be charged for the (small) amount of data used.  This theoretical is on a by-manufacturer and by-carrier basis, based on, say, swapping out your SIM card or due to a rooted phone.  YMMV.  [details have been simplified.]

How can I get my location (latitude longitude) using Location Manager in Android Studio?

You can insert your Geocode into the Android application using the Android studios for this. Geocoding is the process of transforming a description of a location – such as a pair of coordinates, an address, or a name of a place. With the increasing usage of maps for travelling & the convenience it has been giving to the users to reach the desired destination, the usage of Geocode in your Android application is must. Whether it is used for locating the near -by food joints, adventure destinations, entertainment zones or locating the place for your next project meeting or discussion, the usage of Geocode is universal. The simplest way to add a map to an application is to specify it in the user interface layout XML file for an activity. The following images shows the MapFragment instance added to the xml file created by Android Studio. Can I track a cellphone even if the location is turned off?

If a phone is "switched off" it is actually in a sleep or standby mode (that's how the button wakes it up) so it is not actually offBetter would be airplane mode with radio turned off. The the obvious answer is "no radio = no trace"But it is conceivably there are "trap doors" or "spyware" that could still record voices and transmit location if required. This wouldn't be a normal thing; it wouldn't be obvious - but only a fool would say NSA & GCHQ can't do it.People who scared of being monitored will take the battery out of their phone (tricky with iPHONE... make sure it is very, very flat) and then put it in the fridge. And then go somewhere else, leaving it there.

My usb disk drive is showing 0 location ?

t happens especially when you have many network drives mapped or network drives mapped with letters immediately after this of your CD/DVD drives. In my corporate environment most users have lots of mapped network drives and ask me every day why their USB drives are not showing. But this can be fixed.

To explain simply, when you insert a USB disk drive in your computer, it may happen that Windows assigns to it a drive letter which it already used for mapping a network drive. Sure it is a Windows glitch, because the operating system should check if the drive letter is already occupied before assigning it to the USB disk. To fix the problem you have 2 options:

- Remap the network drive to another disk letter or
- Change the USB drive letter to something else

I suggest the first option, as it will solve the problem permanently. If you select the 2nd option, you may need to change your USB drive’s letter every time you insert it to your computer. However, here is how to change the USB drive letter:

1) Click Start, Run and type the command diskmgmt.msc

2) Right click on your USB drive and select “Change Drive Letter and Paths”

3) Click on the already assigned letter and click “Change”. Accept the warning displayed by Windows and click OK.

Now your USB drive will appear normally in My Computer window.

An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled. The dependency service or group failed?

Translation:
A service needed by ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) is not running.

Solution:
Click Start, Run, type services.msc, and click OK. To enable a service, find it in the right pane and double-click its entry. Be sure its Startup Type is set to Automatic and click OK. All the following services must be configured in order to use ICS:

Application Layer Gateway Service
Network Connections
Network Location Awareness (NLA)
Plug And Play
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Remote Access Connection Manager
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Telephony

After verifying and/or configuring Automatic startup for each of these services, close the Services window and restart the computer before attempting again to enable ICS.

Craigslist Default Location?

I sometimes use CL just to search - don't always sign into my account. However, when I click on CL in my Favorties on my IE it comes up to my OLD location and I want it to set to my new location when I open it (not just signed in). I sent note to CL and got back some generic reply for links to click on for help--which was of no use to me. I even tried to set up a new account and it goes right back to old location. I have moved across country so old location is of no use to me. It is simply annoying and inconvenient to keep having to click on States to the right and then city. Can anyone tell me how to fix this - driving me nuts!!
