How long should you charge a brand new cell phone battery before using it?

Hi, I would just let it charge tonight while you sleep, thats what about everyone does, plugs there phone into charge while they sleep. If you NEED it in a few hours from now, plug it in now, and take it off when it says its done which should be around 6-7pm depending on how much it's charged

How long are you supposed to charge a new cell phone battery?

read the owners manual that came with ur phone so u can see where the battery charge indicator is located. Most new phones u are to charge fully b4 use, that only takes 1 to 3 hours depending on ur phone which should beep or chime when full. Then let the battery run out and charge it fully again. Do this 2 or 3 more times. Then ur free to charge and top up charge as u wish. Overcharging will wreck it.

A new cell phone, do I let the battery die before I charge, or charge completly when I first get it?

New cell phones have Lithium Ion batteries. Best to recharge when the level gets to about 25%. Don't let it drain out all the way.

Charge only until the recharging indication (usually a moving battery level meter on the display) shows full charge.

No Lithium Ion battery lasts forever. The capacity drops significantly after 2 years/~300 charge cycles.

How long do you charge a new cell phone?

It should say in the paper work you get with your phone. Usually around 5 hours. Then let the phone die and shut its self off again before you recharge it. You should do that a few times after you get a new phone. I also do it about once a month.
I also check my phone when it is charging and as soon as it is fully charged I unplug it. That usually takes around 2 hours. I have had the same phone for 2 years and my phone still stays charged for the same amount of days as it did when I first bought it.
Do not charge your phone over night. It will ruin your battery and give it a short life.

Why does my cellphone battery only charge half way?

In addition to what Adam said, you might want to try a recalibration charge. LI-ON batteries in phones have a small maintenance chip in them that calibrates their capacity and discharge/charge cycles. You're may need reconditioning.

1. Allow the battery to run down in the phone until the phone powers off. Do not power the phone back on yet.
2. Plug in your charger. You can turn the phone on, but it might be better to do this charge with the device off.
3. Leave the charger on until you get an indicator that it's full (light, icon, whatever). Then leave it on the charger for at least one more hour.
4. Monitor the use again. If the problem continues, do this cycle one or two more times the same way, without intermediate charges.

If this helps the battery, you're OK. If not, it's time for a replacement.

Check on Amazon for Anker brand aftermarket batteries for your device. Excellent batteries, long life, very reasonably priced.
