Right after? Depends on what you're going to chat her up about. Are you chat "do you want to go on a date?" or a derivative of that? If yes, it's not needy; its confident. Do that. If you aren't going to straight up ask her out, then it's a weak move, and could come off little needy. If you want to chat her up without actually dating her (I don't know why you would do this), wait a day or something and then try your best at friend zoning yourself for eternity.

Around this time last year, my "friend" completely shut me off for some unknown reason.
