these kids at my friends school made a fake facebook account, and she is friends with that account. i asked her how she knew and she heard the creators talking about it in the bathroom (cause they didnt know she was there), and the profile picture and others pictures were taken off some other website. are fake facebook accounts illegal? would it be legal if they didnt take the pictures off other websites, or are fake fb accounts in gemeral illegal?? i dont want my friend to get in trouble if she friends with them, is it illegal to be friends with a fake fb account if you know its fake?? thank you! ps, what if someone makes a fake name because their parents dont want their real name online? is it illegal then??

no, that is not possible. You can report a fake profile, but you will not likely be able to identify the user. If it is in fact illegal activity, you could involve law enforcement, but still you will not get the identity of the person until you sue for damages (if there were any)

If her pics are mostly liked by strangers who write objectifying comments with or without getting any acknowledgement, it might be a hint of a fake account.Generally such accounts accept a lot of friends requests without any thought so you'll see random posts on their wall like 'Thanks for accepting my request' or 'You look really cute!'See if you have any mutual friends , see if she has listed her family members in the "about" section; see if she is actually present in the pics tagged. If you don't find these elements in her profile, it's fake! Use logic.

My friends have been making fake facebook accounts. fake names, fake pictures. full on, fake. some kids at our school have eventually found out most of them are fake cuz of the pictures! they get them off of Photobucket and Google Images. stuff like that. they were like those fake emo chicks.. and maybe some other girls who look like sluts. i made a fake account but deleted it.. cuz its just stupid. this is quite pathetic.. but is this illegal? Like some type of fraud for taking REAL people's pictures?

I use my facebook to role play as a character. And i personally do not trust facebook with my real life personal info. Recently Facebook disable my account.
