You can't console someone who has lost his father…you just can't by saying anything or doing anything because it will not change the situation… But what you can do is just take care of your friend and his family in this hard times,, Tell him that I'm with you always and can help you whenever you need!Also after all the rituals …just try to spend some time with him or take him somewhere for outing and do stuffs like these so that he can moveon in his life from this situation.

Oh yeah, and recoil is a moot point. Example: The M240 B/G medium machine gun fires a 7.62 NATO round which is the exact same round as .308 Winchester, a common hunting caliber available at Wal-Mart. Thompson-Center makes a pistol chambered for the same round, and although it is powerful, no, it will not break your wrist through insane recoil. My point: Although .50 BMG (Browning machine gun) is a beastly caliber, that alone does not preclude the ability to fire it from the hip. Have you ever fired a .50 cal sniper rifle from the shoulder or hip? Well, I have, more than a few times. Feels like firing a 12 gauge shotgun slug. Disclaimer: All of the lightweight .50 sniper rifles that I know of are supplied with a well-designed muzzle brake. Without a brake on a lightweight (40 lb. or less) rifle, it WILL break your arm. Now, the M2 Heavy machine gun does not have a muzzle brake of any kind. BUT it weighs 84 lbs and has a recoil buffer. So I think it could be fired fm hip.
