Are you talking about LAN IP and Public IP? Your LAN IP and WAN IP (Public IP) are different. LAN IP is generated by your home router & the WAN IP is assigned by your ISP. To know your WAN IP just go to google and type my ip (space should come b/w my & ip). After port forwarding you can able to access the webserver using your WAN IP from outside your network ( inside of your LAN network you cant access your WAN IP or Public IP).

From the top of my head, two possibilities. The Public, albeit, dynamic IP address you're getting is not really public. It could be a private IP inside you telco's network. The port you exposed is filtered on it's way out on your laptop, or completely filtered by the telco. It usually depend on the port number. Some telcos only allow standard Web ports and then some.There might still be other reasons.

When I set up my Epson Connect with the DNS/Proxy server it disconnects from the printer's network.?
My boyfriend just bought me an Epson XP-410 all-in-one printer and I set up the "Wi-Fi Direct routerless setup" And connect from my Windows 7 laptop. Then I go to set up the Epson Connect and it asks me to set the Primary and Secondary DNS servers and Proxy. I do that and set the Proxy to "Do Not Use" but when it claims it's updating it disconnects from my printer's network and says it was unable to connect. Is it absolutely required that my boyfriend sets up his wireless router? Because right now I just have a cord from the router to my laptop and that's how I get internet.

If your company internet and your server is under the same router, then you have uplink bottleneck. It is your upload bandwidth got choked by your server, perhaps your server get so much visitor, it would explain your company internet going slow down to a crawl.My suggestion, your should allocate your upload bandwidth to your company internet and separate it from your server bandwidth. This can be done from your router. But this may not be a better solution.A better solution is you create a short presentation and points out to your boss that putting company internet and server under the same connection is bad design because it is a single point failure nightmare. Your company should have place your server in a datacenter. Good luck or should I say break a leg.

Actually, you can do it. You just have to set up any webserver such as apache or iis. Now that server will be accesible by you at localhost.However you or anyone else can also access it over internet. Just try to find out the ipv4 address of your computer. If you write that ipv4 address in address bar from any computer connected to internet then the server will be accessible as long as the firewall allows it.
