i have a Brother DCP 7030 printer with a scanner. when i scan an image the picture shows up on my computer as an image on a white paper background. kinda like if you did a print preview. the image is on a white paper basically. how do i just get the picture scanned onto my computer without a white paper background.... kinda cropped i guess. only show the image. any help?

If I were you I wouldn’t even bother to try to do it Illustrator. You need to take the image into Photoshop. Cut out the background (on a duplicate layer). Remove the original base layer It will now show the image with a chequered transparent background. Here is the important bit. You need to save it as a .pngWhen you bring this back into Illustrator you will have an object with a transparent background. Now you can use Illustrator’s tools to create a coloured shape to use as a background or just leave it transparent.
