Why does exercise do nothing without a good diet?

Why exactly doesn't exercise do anything unless you have a good diet as well?

Anytime I look into it, it seems exercise alone won't get me in better shape and help me lose fat unless I also change my diet. But even if my diet is bad, it's not currently making me gain weight. So what's going on with exercise that if I were to start exercising, it wouldn't do anything? Am I just magically not going to burn any extra calories with exercise or something?

What exactly is the science behind it when people say exercise alone isn't going to help someone lose fat?

How can you build body muscle without weight gain?

To prevent weight gain, you must ensure you've high metabolism rate. And for muscle growth you must make sure you have a good protein diet. As the muscles grow, your tendons would need to get stronger, for that your diet must include:- Protein (Oxygen for muscles)- Vitamin C (Needed for the production of collagen in tendons. Collagen is a structural protein in connecting tissues)- Calcium (Makes the bones stronger)- Vitamin D (Helps the body to absorb calcium)Do the following, if you already have a good muscle mass:1. Jogging, followed by a 100m x 2 sprint.2. Skipping3. Swimming4. Good stretching work-outs5. Workouts containing low weights and high repetition. 6. Eat to kill your hunger not to fill your tummy or to fulfil your craving. If you don't have a good muscle mass, then the following will help:1. Only sprints no jogging.2. Point number 6, mentioned above.3. Workouts with high weights and low repetition(Gradually increase the weights, your muscles will need time to grow.)4. During warming up, make sure you do back(especially lower back) strengthening exercises. Strong back will help you with larger weights.5. Never quit body weight exercises, EVER!!! (ex: push ups, inclined push ups, pull ups, chin ups, squats...)

Will eating sunflower seeds make me gain weight?

Why am I gaining weight when working out?

While I don't know your eating habits, you should ensure that calories expended are significantly less than calories taken in. A net expenditure of 450 calories will result in about a 1/8 lb loss.

The muscle comes first. Then your metabolism will increase as it takes more energy to feed muscles.

After about 6 weeks of working out, the changes should start. I've known a woman in your situation who noticed very little change until 12 weeks into the exercise program. Then the pounds melted away very quickly.

Patience and determination are the key.

What is the ideal gym workout routine for losing weight and gaining muscle?

As per my personal experience, you can not make DRASTIC progress if you want to lose weight and gain muscle at the same time (reason being gaining huge amount of muscles will require too much eating, which will definitely result in some fat gain, let alone fat loss). But you can still see GOOD progress even if you want to do both at the same time. That brings me to the important question- What is your current body type?Since you want to lose weight, I assume you are skinny fat guy having less muscles and some fat.Your goal is long term which is a very good thing.Any body transformation would require focus on following 2 things:-Diet :- Just focus on eating 4–5 meals and try to take a balanced diet including some carbs, good amount of proteins and some good fats. Don’t take heavy meals with too much amount of carbs after 8 PM. Try to include good amounts of fibers too. Google foods rich in proteins, and good fats and try to incorporate them in your meals. As I am writing this, I am having 2 bananas and some sprouts as pre-lunch snack.Workout:- You don’t have to do anything fancy to achieve a good physique. Just focus on weight training 5 days a week and try some jogging/running (cardio) on the remaining 2 days of the week.Open this link:-What Is The Best 5-Day Workout Split?and text search this ‘MATTYH7688’. This is a very good workout that has helped me to gain good amount of muscles and lose fat as well.Ultimately, when you achieve your dream physique, just include some activities like Jogging, sprinting, any sport that you love to play, to maintain that physique. Off course, it would be better if you can continue going to the gym at least 3 times a week.No matter what, stick to a healthy and balanced diet to maintain that hard earned physique.

Will we gain weight if we stop going to gym and working out?

Yes & no.Yes you will gain weight .The food you take daily & the extra calories consumed eating junk food will not be burnt in work out and consequently results in gain in weight. When you are in working out mode your body has a revved up basal metabolic rate (BMR)but that would slow down if you stop the work out & consequently the extra calories you have consumed through eating  junk food and/or eating a little extra everyday or week would result in weight gain. But remember even when you are working out in gym  pigging out on junk food would result in weight gain.No.You do not need elaborate gym work out or high intensity cardio outside gym to control weight gain. All you need to do is keep minimum work out or just work out when you feel like subject to time available to just keep the  BMR not slowing down. Most important control your eating by not pigging out on junk food & daily intake of food is to suitably adjusted to prevent extra calories getting loaded (as this results in weight gain)Adding a daily walk through out the day & keep moving & fidgeting helps to burn calories to keep your weight in check.A gym workout helps in building muscular mass ,bone density  & strength by use of different equipment available there & used by you regularly. But you could do plenty of resistance exercise everyday with body weight - work outs at your  own convenience or a simple pair adjustable dumbbells could be useful to maintain physique. Most important is not eating too much food everyday/week/month/year & that is the key to stop weight gain.I do not believe in dieting which is very tough on the body & mind .All the extreme dieting  tricks leads to failure & a rebound weight gain so I am personally not for it.
