How To Deal With Shoplifters

Does walmart forgive shoplifters?

Nope. WalMart might make a deal with a shoplifter, but that's not forgiveness. It just means that WalMart would rather have the shoplifter pay a fine and agree to stay out of its stores instead of having one or more employees having to go down to court and testify. The shoplifter should take the deal, because it means that s/he won't have this on his/her record.

How do you feel about shoplifters?

So I work retail and one thing that I can truly say that I HATE is shoplifters. I think that they are the scum of the earth. What makes a person feel so entitled that they should be able to take an item that someone else put an honest day's work into? To me, this is just as bad as robbing someone. It pretty much is the same thing. Like...really? Why do you need that $10 t-shirt so badly? If you can afford it, then why aren't you paying for it? If you can't afford it, why are you out in a retail store anyway? Are you honestly that self-important. At the risk of sounding like a public service announcement, stealing is wrong. Anyone caught shoplifting should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law in my opinion. Plus, you make my life hell when I have to go back and babysit your lazy, good-for-nothing butt because believe it or not, we retail workers can usually tell who's in there to shop, and who's in there to steal stuff. So I wanted to get other people's opinionson this phenomenon.

How do I get rid of shoplifters in Sims 2 Open for Business?

It's not shoplifters it's a bug/glitch.

Also if it's a teen, they have a 9pm curfew so they leave the lot at this time, usually without paying!

I guess the only way to prevent the teens from doing it is to ask them to leave just before 9pm so they have time to pay before they go.

Why do stores make it so easy to shoplift?

A group of my good friends and I will occasionally go in places like Walmart, Target, Rural King, and the like to get a few things for free. I've taken hats, t shirts, DVD's, CD's, games, and most recently I got a 2-knife set by Gerber from Rural King. Pick up the item, walk around a bit, make sure you're not followed, check for cameras, rip off tags, hide the item in a jacket or your pants, and leave. It's like clockwork and my friends and I have done it several hundred times without a problem; sometimes multiple times on the same day. Why do stores make it so easy to shoplift?

Retailers' Response to Shoplifting?

I work as a sales associate at a clothing store found in many malls, about the size of Express or PacSun.

My company's approach to shoplifters is to let them know that we are watching them, and that is all. There are no cameras in the store, and if we catch someone shoplifting, we are not permitted to confront him/her about it for fear of it going to court.

For this reason, people can come into the store, take stuff, and leave with no consequences. We do not call the police, we do not call mall security, we are not allowed to detain or even stop the shoplifter in any way.

Is this representative of stores this size? I know larger stores, such as Wal-Mart and H&M have stricter policies, but, for clothing stores around the size of Aeropostale or American Eagle, is this how they deal with shoplifters?
