How To Declutter New Laptop

How to declutter new laptop?

In response to your first question:
Decluttering: 2 Ways, Manual and Automatic, Manula usually is more thorough, automatic is faster

Automatic: Since profanity is not allowed and the name of this software is automatically filtered as profane, I'll say it in code. It's called PC de-(excrement of human body)er. http://pcdecrapifier.com/

Manual: Using uninstalling software:
Iobit Uninstaller: http://www.iobit.com/advanceduninstaller.php
Manually uninstall the programs using the scan, also, disable the unused startup programs by pressing Windows Key + R to bring up the Run menu and typing msconfig under startup (part of task manager in windows 8) uncheck the things you don't need. A WORD OF CAUTION: Certain programs are important, if it sounds like it's not a commercial program chances are it's a low level system driver helper which means it needs to run.

In Response to Your Second Question:
Uninstalling Windows 8 and installing windows 7 is a pain. No support from either microsoft or your manufacturer, and UEFI bios is a hazard to trample into. Long story short, it would be best to simply customize windows 8 or wait for 8.1 and see if that's better. If you still want to downgrade, the following is the best tutorial there is from a reputable source:

It should explain most of the risks.

Happy Computing.

If my laptop computer has 212 GB free of 286 GB, would it be wise to download the Sims 3?

What are the specs of the computer you're you using? Whether or not the game will bog down your computer depends on how much RAM you have and how fast your processor speed is. If you're running a small ASUS netbook with a single-core 1.6GHz CPU like I'm using to answer with, then forget it, regardless of whether or not you have that much hard drive space. Your small CPU just cannot handle that kind of stress, and neither can your RAM. If you try to run a game that requires around 8GB of hard drive space with something like that, you run the risk of crashing your computer and causing a whole bunch of hardware problems later, not to mention headaches. However if you are sporting a dual- or even quad-core with 4 GB of RAM and 4GHz+ processor speed, then go for it. I see no reason why it wouldn't run smoothly with that big of a chunk of your hard drive free. If you have that much space left, for one thing you have a pretty decent sized hard drive, but you also have a better chance of the game running smoother because there's not that much data the computer has to deal with. Imagine running with 200lbs on your back as opposed to 10. Your hard drive's lugging 10lbs around versus 200. Hope this helps! (By the way, Austin, YOU know nothing of computers. "Games use RAM space, not hard drive space." That's only half true, but it's usually the other way around. RAM is like our short-term memory, whereas hard drives act like long-term memory. Once the computer is shut off, all data in RAM is deleted because it retains data as long as the current is turned on. Most files, games included, are written directly to the hard drive. Ever wonder why computers never forget how to run a game unless you totally get rid of the program by uninstalling it yourself?)

How do you know what to throw away when decluttering? Example, I have a Hookah that I haven't used in a year taking up space, but I might use it one day.

I am a Master Declutterer. Always have been, but aged 40 and with the accumulation of "the things of life" you get with a house and a mortgage, it came time to move on.I'm fairly ruthless in my decluttering; that is, if it's not inherently useful, it will probably go (the joy in things is reasonably fleeting, and most things - photos, books, etc) can be stored digitally these days which makes life much easier.I have come to develop one simple rule I call the "2:2 rule" that will make your decision making process easy:First 2: "Have I used this item in the last 2 years?" that gives you 2 complete cycles of the seasons; for example, if it's something like a tent, and it was a bad summer last year, and you like camping, you can keep it. If it's an orange jumper and you've not worn it for 3 years (because secretly, you don't really like it) it goes.Second 2: "Will I use this item in the next 2 months?". This is about as reasonably far as someone like myself can see into the future, or reasonably put off tasks to do, which gives myself time to use this item if I don't need it now, but think I might find use for it. If I'm going to only need it in a year, it's time to get rid of it, and I can worry about getting a new one then. There are of course a few things that you may allow by, such as family heirlooms,  some treasured photos of your mum, tax returns, or stuff like that, and that's OK. You need to recognise what those things are, vs the things that actually bring you no value at all and are just functions of your misplaced psychological attachment. As mentioned, this is a pretty ruthless way of looking at things, so feel free to tailor the numbers, such as 3:3, or 2:6, however, do not cheat yourself out of decluttering by being soft - remember the rationale for the 2s - each one has a very good reason for being a 2 and not something else. One final reminder I have to keep myself sane, is to ask myself "what I would save if there was a fire?" (or a flood if that's too scary for you!). For me, it's my laptop, some clothes, and an awesome bag - pretty much what I would take if I go travelling - everything else is just fluff :)Oh, and a piece of bonus advice to keep you on the straight and narrow: DON'T accept new things into your life! That includes presents, freebies, ANYTHING. You don't need it, and 9 times out of 10 you will be happier without it.Good luck! Be ruthless. And go digital (I recommend WorkFlowy to both organise your thoughts and your life).

What are the best tips for apartment decluttering and decorating with a minimalist theme?

This is what I am doing currently. I live in an apartment having 3 bedrooms, a living room, a Kitchen cum Dining Room. Ohhh, I miss 3 restrooms. You will say, how does it matter but it does when it comes to Minimalism. The more area you have, more time and energy it takes to de-clutter.Start at 1 corner to cover 1 room and then move to 2nd room. Pick a drawer or a wardrobe. Start collecting junk or unused things in different bags.1 for plastic waste, 1 for paper waste, 1 for electronic waste, 1 for clothes, 1 for shoes and for other miscellaneous objects. Its a process and not a one-time thing. Its a ritual you need to follow until you are satisfied with the results.Remove empty bottles and boxesPrefer not to use storage boxes as it will only welcome the clutterRemove expired products and medicinesRemove duplicate thingsRemove the distractions. For example- I de-cluttered my work table to remove everything except the 3 things I need daily- Pen-stand, notepad and my Laptop.Remove unnecessary wall hangingsThing I did to reduce the clutter-I need a light source to work after lights are off- Replaced night lamp with USB LED light.I personally like Buddha’s positive vibes- Replaced Buddha statue with Buddha wallpaper.Kept loose pens and other stationary in pen-stand.Rather then keeping the things randomly- I kept them as per the usage. Like- When my Kiddo asks for painting time, we need a brush, paint set and a workbook. I kept them together as a bundle. Similarly, for my quick-ready-to-go-kit.I hope you got an idea.DECORATING IN MINIMALIST THEMEI did not try my hands on it. But the only thing is I stopped adding more things to keep it minimal.

Whalen that happens it will use your hard drive as ram and will slow down you system considerably. This will fix sudden programs closing or extremely slow moments.3 Get a ssd this will make up inning programs and loading things much faster. You can get a 240 one for around $80
