How To Describe Seeing Double

Seeing the moon double vision?

Were the two images almost one on top of the other?
Have yourself checked for diabetes.

Were the images clearly detached (well separated) and accompanied by headaches?
Could be a hundred causes, some of which could be grave (and many of which are minor, usually associated with tiredness or fluctuations in blood pressure).

By "going blue and flashing", do you mean as if the image of the Moon was twinkling and "pixelating" (turning into dots that flash), then it could have to do with your retina (begin by seeing an optician and do describe the symptom). It could be tiredness, but it could be tiny clots just underneath the sensitive layer of the retina. It may not be part of the optician's specialty, but it is usually much easier to see an optician and, in general, they will understand the problem enough to tell whether it could be something serious (in which case, they might get an appointment for you with an ophthalmologist - getting referred by an optician usually gets you a much faster appointment)

What are the vision problems behind seeing double, but not knowing it? Has anyone heard of this?

This is actually a rather good question IMO. I wish I could give a definitive answer. There are patients who complain of intermittent “blurring” of their vision, and the only finding is a small angle phoria (a small intermittent misalignment of the eyes - it can be an eso-phoria = the eyes turn in or “cross”; or an exo-phoria = one or both eyes deviate outward; or a vertical deviation = hyper- or hypophoria; or it can be a combination of weak muscles or an oblique muscle weakness leading to a diagonal deviation).I believe that because the distance between the two images (diplopia) is small in these situations, there is some overlap, and the patient sees this as a blurred image, not recognizing it as double vision. The circumstances I have seen this in usually include an intermittent diplopia, usually late in the day, and with a particular task, like reading for several hours, or driving at night. The visual angle of the diplopia has to be small, so the patient is usually not aware of two completely separate images, and the partially overlapping images appear “blurred” to the patient. The only other circumstances that might apply (but don’t really because these patients don’t actually “see double”) are patients who have “alternating fixation”, or “monocular suppression”. These patients can have a visible strabismus (deviation of the eyes) but suppress the vision in one eye to avoid the symptoms of diplopia.Disclaimer: I am neither an expert in strabismus/diplopia syndromes, or neuroophthalmology. Read at your own risk.

What does a double rainbow mean?

Rainbows, sundogs etc. are based on sunlight being reflected or refracted, which happens slightly differently for the different wavelenghts, the different colours. The primary rainbow is based on refraction within a raindrop.  The secondary involves a double reflection within the rainbow.  Hence it is fainter, larger and has the colours reversed.

What are some alternatives to the phrase 'double down'?

To "double down" is a phrase used in the game of "blackjack" in which you double a bet after seeing your initial cards, with the requirement that one additional card is drawn.("the amount only increases when you choose to split or double down")-To level a bet- To duplicate the amount- To settle for the same amount- To equalize the bet- To use the same amount

How would you describe a quadruple Scorpio or a triple Pisces?

I was checking out my sister and her boyfriend's birth chart with them and noticed something cool and kind of shocking.

My sister is a Pisces in sun, moon and rising, and her boyfriend is a Scorpio in sun, moon, rising and mercury. What do you interpret from this?

If the radius and height of a circular cylinder are doubled, how does the surface area change?

Surface area being the circumference of the circular base of the cylinder multiplied by its height, it means that:
1- radius doubled--- affects circumference (called c from now on): c=2חr. So if r (radius) is doubled, c is doubled (ח doesn't change. Ever). You can try putting in random numbers into that equation and seeing for yourself.
2- Height doubled--- Call the height "h". First few lines say your surface area is actually h times ח2r, so if h is doubled, so is the surface area.
So, to make a long story short, if you do those things to the radius and to the height, they each double the surface area by their own, meaning that 2gether they make it grow 4 times larger ;-)

Have you ever led a double life? If so when and how?

Well when I was 20 I got married, it was the early 80s and I was young and dumb. I had just received 120,000 from the life insurance that my mother had at death. I wasn't ready for marriage, kids or being a home owner. My wife was also unprepared for the responsibility involved and we floundered. I had money and a job but not a CLUE about anything other than drug dealing, installing flooring and partying those I had down. It was like 1981 and I had purchased a 3 bed 2 bath house in north Phoenix, I had cashed out the owners equity and assumed a loan from 1971 so my house payment was 183$. My wife had pulled some shady shit before our marriage and I wasn't happy so I went back to dealing and just quit my day job. I never told her that I quit I just told her that I was gonna be working crazy hours to make extra $$. So she saw me up and out at pretty much the same time and I came home a lot later and as far as she saw I had more $$. We had separate accounts so she was none the wiser as far as money was concerned. I just had to remember to dirty my self up before heading home. In reality I left the house around 7ish went to my partners home where our merchandise was sold and stored. After a bong session as we talked about the hand off and business from the night before, I would go post up at some topless dancers house and could get some or not and just chill and get loaded all day. After a hard days of sales and distribution I would go home all dirtied up and say “oh wow what a tough day”.

Can a person with myopia have double vision?

Double vision (diplopia) is not related to myopia or hyperopia, or astigmatism, or any refractive error that I am aware of.In most cases double vision is a result of the two eyes being “misaligned”, that is, they are focused on two different points in the environment, and therefore the brain is simultaneously presented with two different images - hence double vision.More rarely a single eye can develop “monocular diplopia”. In this situation, the image is divided as it passes through the eye, as though through a prism or fractured mirror, and the retina has two or more overlapping images presented to it.In either case, a person with myopia should be no more or less likely to develop diplopia than anyone else.
