How To Detect My Allergic Food Item

Food Allergies?

Find out all the names of the items you are allergic to, such as dairy is also casien and whey, etc etc. Make up a business card list with a short alert on the top. Such as I am Allergic to Dairy and Eggs. Please read labels for me or allow me to read the labels of the foods I'd like to order. then below this write out the list of ingredients you need to be alert to.

Start with one local restaurant and visit repeatedly. Now that being said some chain restaurants will have a nutrition pamphlet already printed and available. As you become more experienced with this condition yourself you will learn to identify which foods will likely have hidden sources of you allergen.

Cookies, cakes, soups, ice creams , etc, etc. It will be a long year ahead of you, but read labels, read more labels and read those labels again.

Search out groups on the internet, www.glutenfreekitchens.com has a group of great helpful people with gluten sensitivities, but many of these people also have multiple sensitivities. I'm sure no one will mind if you pop in and ask for your specifics.

Science Fair ideas? Food Allergies?

If this is a science fair project, then I am guessing that you have to follow the scientific method. If that is the case then you have to do some type of experiment. So just doing research and writing about what happens and so forth is probably not going to cut it.

I know that the majority of schools these days have rules regarding science fair projects, and most of the rules that I have seen include the rule that you cannot use animal or human subjects. So with that being said, food allergies is going to be a tough one to do.

Why don't you provide some more information. If you have to follow the scientific method, then lets start at the beginning. What is the question you are going to try to answer? Basically what is your hypothesis?

Also, what grade are you in and what resources do you have available to you. If you have a sheet that your teacher gave you about this project (like an outline of what has to be included and what the requirements are) then why don't you tell us what some of those things are, and maybe we can better help you.

EDIT: Ok, so you did not get to actually choose your topic? That is unusual that it was chosen for you. At any rate, food allergies is really going to be difficult to do something with, but I can give it some thought and possibly come up with something. Are you allowed to use animals such as mice? If so, are you comforatable with using mice in your experiment? If you email me the specifics then I may be able to help you come up with something that will suit your needs and stay within your guidelines.

Is it possible to have allergy to all sorts of food?

Yes; and I have so much sympathy for those who do.My wife is horribly allergic to a list including but not limited to:Dairy (not Lactose. The actual Dairy Protein. Big difference.)Wheat (not Gluten like all the cool kids. The actual Wheat proteins themselves - Gliadin and Glutenin.)Corn (try finding a food item at your local commercial grocery retailer that doesn’t contain either corn, corn flour, corn starch or corn syrup. America produces more than 40% of the world’s corn; and corn is America’s #1 staple food. Then if you find aforementioned food item, try affording it.)Tree Nuts (not peanuts like all the cool kids. Tree nuts. You know, like…ALL the other ones. Almonds, Cashews, Pecans, Hazelnuts, Chestnuts, Walnuts, Pistachios, etc.)With just those four allergies her food shopping is an adventure. A Greek tragedy more like it. One loaf of bread that she can safely ingest costs over $9 for what equates to about 1/3 of the size of a regular loaf of bread one might get for $1. That’s about a 2,700% price increase just for bread. You know, that cheap food product prisoners eat.And finding any sort of snack item that doesn’t contain some sort of corn derivative? You have better odds trying to win the lottery. We’ve read every ingredient on every bag, box, can and carton of everything in every store. Fewer than .01% of them are corn-free.But all that being said; it’s a great time to have food allergies. Let me rephrase that. It’s a better time to have food allergies than has ever been before. Even just 20 years ago wheat-free bread wasn’t a thing. Neither was dairy-free milk. All things considered; it’s a good time to have such a horrible affliction. But I still sympathize with her tremendously.

Can anybody give me information on food allergies?

I don't have any allergies, but I was wondering what happens with food alergies and such, since I don't really know anything, but my sister has a friend whose two younger siblings both have alot of allergeis.
What happens if somone eats peanut if their alergy is mild? Moderate? Severe? Very severe?
Does everybody have similar symptoms, or does it vary from person to person?
To all food allergies act similar, or do eggs usualy present different symptoms than nuts, or shellfish or fruit?
How does an epi-pen work, and in what situations do you need one?
And lets say that, hypotheticaly, a person with has an allergic reaction on a camping trip, and they use the epi-pen, but can't get to a hospital? Will the epi pen wear off or somthing, or will the person be okay, depending on the allergy?
Thanks.
