How To Do A Repair Install Windows 7

How do you install windows7 sp1?

having trouble installing windows7 sp1 on an Acer Aspire 7741z laptop. It's currently running win7 home premium 64-bit OS. I've successfully installed win7 sp1 on my dell studio540 desktop running win7 home premium 64-bit last year. i get error messages on the sp1 install, and when I tried to turn on Windows Automatic Update to download the updates from microsoft that fails and tells me that the Update service has stopped and needs to be re-started and the pc must restart. I tried restarting several times, and this latptop doesn't want to restart the Update service. I checked the Update settings, and it originally showed the settings to "Automatic Download and Install-Recommended". I tried using the manual and semi-manual options without success. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

How to reinstall or repair Windows 7 on my Dell Latitude e6410?

Hi Field,

Dell computers are shipped with a recovery partition. In case there are any issues with operating system, you may restore your computer to default factory settings. If you have partitioned / resized hard drive of computer, you might not be able to access the Factory image partition. you might need to format the hard drive and re-install Operating System using windows OEM recovery media in case there are any issues.

It is always recommended to use OEM disc sent with the Dell computer. OEM version of Operating system will not require any product key and is pre-activated by Microsoft for Dell customers. In case you re-install Operating system from a non-Dell OEM CD, you might face issues in activating the Operating system. In some cases the product key of operating system is located in the COA label on bottom panel of laptop which can be used for activation purpose as well.

Factory image restore will lead to data (pictures, documents, programs, music) loss. Please perform a data backup prior to this step. Please disconnect any external peripherals (printer, scanner or any USB device) as well.

For detailed steps on restoring computer to factory defaults, you may refer to following article:

If the factory image restore fails, you may perform an operating system re-installation. For more information on this, you may refer to the following link:

Once the operating system is re-installed, you may download and install the drivers on your computer. You may download the drivers from the link: http://dell.to/10ksYYf

Enter the service tag and select the operating system.

To know more about the installation of drivers in correct order, you may refer to the following link:

Hope this helps.

How to install service pack 1 for windows 7?

i have an acer aspire 5532. i have had to do a system restore recently and i stalled all the necessary software updates except for service pack one which refuses to install. every time i try to install it it says windows encountered an unknown error. below it says error code800B0100 . i tried restarting the update... didn't work. then i tried restarting my computer... still didn't work. finally i went online to see what it meant and it didn't really say much except to install something called system readiness tool. i tried to install this but after the install was finished(yes the install not the download for the installer) the program disappeared. i searched for it in the start button search but didn't find it. finally i tried reinstalling it but it still didn't work. is there anything i can do to install this update.

Does reinstalling or repairing Windows (7, 8, 8.1, 10, etc) delete everything on your computer (including personal files)?

No, it will not really affect your personal files - Documents, pictures etc will still be there and nothing gets deleted.Any personal settings for Windows (desktop background, start menu settings etc etc will be affected and reset to their defaults.)So if the PC isn't working you can perfectly well either repair the existing installation or install a new copy of Windows on the same drive as the current non-functional version. However, after getting the system to work I would really recommend that you backup all your personal files and then format the system drive, then install Windows onto that clean drive. After installing Windows I would recommend that you go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings (left side...) and then the tab "System Protection."Turn off Protection for all drives, it causes more harm than good.EDIT:Just noticed the other answer on this question, excellent idea as well. Backup all your stuff and install Windows onto a clean partition, it's likely to give the best result.

Nvenetfd.inf in Windows Installation????

I had to do a repair install for windows and now during the install it is asking for a file called nvenetfd.inf and nvenetfd.in_ from the Nvidia Network Bus Installation Disk #1. I have never heard of this disk but have a disk that came with my motherboard and the file is not on that either. There is a cancel option, but the installation stops doing anything and after a few minutes, gives me a BSOD before restarting. I tried downloading the driver on another computer, but it came as a .exe instead of .inf
