How To Figure Out What You Want To Be After College

Is it a big deal to not want to go to college?

Well, college isn't mandatory and it's not for everyone, but it's getting harder and harder to get a good job without having a degree. And it's getting harder to get a job even WITH a bachelor's degree, since many jobs now require an advance degree.

It's important to remember that, in college, you get to choose your classes. You can pick your major and spend much of your time in classes related to that subject.

For what it's worth, I know plenty of people who've said, "I don't need a degree, there are lots of great jobs out there that don't require one." And most of those people do NOT have a good job. Most are working at least one part-time job and barely making ends meet, or they're working several part-time jobs and barely making ends meet. Personally, I know one person who has a pretty good job without a degree, while two people very close to me without a degree are just scraping by. And I know many others both with and without a degree who aren't doing great.

It's certainly possible to be successful if you don't go to college, but the odds aren't great. Sure, even WITH a college degree it's not a guarantee that you will be successful, but it at least gives you a leg up over most people who don't have a degree. It's all about how hard you work, and without a degree you're going to have to work even harder to be successful.

I wasn't a social butterfly in high school - I only had a couple close friends, I was teased a lot, I felt like a big nerd that nobody understood, I was teased a lot, and I didn't date. Then I got to college, and within a month I had many friends, I was involved in several activities, and I dated several people. I really blossomed once I got to an environment where I didn't feel stupid just being myself.

Your family is encouraging you to go to college because they love you and they want what's best for you ... and also because they've been around longer than you and they've seen with their own eyes what happens to people who don't go to college.

You haven't even tried college yet, so you can't say that it's "not for you." At least go for a couple semesters to see what happens. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, go to a community college or a junior college.

How do I figure out what I want to go to college for?

Figure out a general career idea such as law, healthcare, politics, art, finance, business, engineering, etc. Dont focus on specific jobs within those fields. Naturally if your college doesnt offer a program in a certain field you should ignore it for the time being.Choose an area you find interesting and feel you can commit atleast 40 hours a week for the next 20-30 years learning, adapting, and growing in that field.Once you think you have chosen a field you can stick with long term, research the types of entry jobs people get in those fields and what the prospects of growth are within that field of work. You dont have to make 6 figures right out of college, but you should be able to grow to the salary you desire over a reasonable period of time.Lastly, if you are racking up debt then keep that in mind. As much as i love art, paying off that major turns out to be a huge road block in life for many wide-eyed students. Use your opportunities to your advantage, even if it means doing something you dont want to do for a while just to get to where you want to be.

How do I figure out what I want to do after high school?

I was lost in figuring out what I wanted to do. But I knew for a fact I never wanted to work for somebody else, and I was on the computer pretty much my entire life. I am going to give you pretty decent advice. If you have a smart phone you can see that attention is now the new way to becoming successful. The more attention you get (whether that is from posts, social media, websites, etc) the more opportunities you have to monetize off your traffic. When you have a lot of people's attention, and you create a product, you’re likely to make a sale. With that being said it's pretty hard to get traffic quickly, but if you've heard of Amazon FBA you can sell products on there website and basically steal their traffic for your own benefit. This is my main source of income, its online and for the amount of effort I put in, it's pretty easy. (nothing is get rich quick, it does require work) but in terms of every way to make money online, this is probably the fastest and easiest to generate full time income in my opinion. To brief it to you without overwhelming you with information, what I do is source products from china in bulk (DIRT CHEAP) lets say I buy 200 units for the price of $1, and I send it to Amazon's fulfillment centers and I list those products for $15, I make a $10 Profit Per Unit I sell. I have a lot of days where I make $150 a day, I sometimes wake up in the morning with 50$ profit, etc. This is by far right now the best trend, I've searched a lot of different ways of making money, while most of them are bullshit, cash apps, etc. Affiliate Marketing works, but like I said before, you need traffic and that's rough to get for an average person. The most underrated thing and the BEST part is that hard earned traffic is given to you for FREE, people already know about Amazon, but people don't know about your website/blog/etc. I figured out easier ways to get more exposure with my product. You can rank your product on page 1 pretty easy and doing so will make your product viewed by hundreds of thousands of purchase ready customers. I am 20 years old and I'm pulling it off, im sure you can do this too. If your interested I show how to start an Amazon business, and what I personally do to grow it below. Amazon isn’t a gimmick, and it's not saturated. With that being said this takes work, so if your willing to work at this then this WILL replace full time income. Hopefully I helped

How did you figure out what you want to study in uni?

I started as a psychology student. I picked psyc because it sounded interesting and I thought it would be something I would enjoy. No one really mentioned that it takes ten years of study to do something tangible in the field, and that learning the basics can be very, very boring. I would sit in the lecture hall watching a movie the professor turned on and slowly feel my brain turn to mush. I had perfect grades and felt I was not only not being challenged, but the material was not really teaching me anything. My next class was political science. As I walked from one class to the other, I felt my pulse quicken and my mind begin to race. As someone who enjoys listening to the news, reading newspapers and so on, I found the class fascinating. Not just for the professor (who was excellent), but by the passionate and sometimes out of hand debate with my classmates about the political topics of the day. Poli Sci got me excited, inspired me, and made me want to know more about how to use the tools of the program to understand the world.By the end of the semester I was a Political Science - International Relations student, and have never regretted the switch. I think the most important thing is figuring out what your passion is and pursuing it.

How and when did you figure out what you want for the rest of your life?

To be honest: I have no idea. It’s not like you suddenly get a lightbulb over your head and you immediately know what you want to do for the rest of your life.In fact, most of the lightbulbs that show up are only temporary and can change at any moment.I thought I wanted to be an Astronaut for the rest of my life when I was 6 years old.I thought I wanted to be a Biologist for the rest of my life when I was 13 years old.I thought I wanted to be a Professional Gamer for the rest of my life when I was 16 years old.I thought I wanted to be a Psychologist for the rest of my life when I was 19 years old.And now I am thinking I want to be a Coach for the rest of my life, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that changes as well! What you have to understand is that you will never find the “true, one thing” that will make all that searching go away.Instead you just get closer and closer and, eventually, you will simply be doing what you wanted to do for the rest of your life… however, you only notice that in hindsight. So, to tell you the truth, I just realized that I was already doing what I wanted to do when I read this question! Not because I didn’t do it until now, but only because I didn’t think about it, and you shouldn’t either. To find what you love you simply chase what you love and grow what you love. That’s all!As you keep chasing joy and as you keep gaining experiences in doing the things that make you smile, leave you feeling excited and motivate you to do more you start filtering out the things that don’t.Before you know it, you will look back and realize that you are already doing what you want! And all you need to do is do more of what makes you smile and less of what doesn’t.It’s that simple.Stop being less than you can be and reach your goals. Send me a message saying "Coaching" to work 1 on 1 with me. Lukas Schwekendiek
