How To Find A Better Job

How to find a better job?

I am a 20 year old male and I am constantly applying for better jobs, putting my resume out there, etc... But I constantly get nothing in return. I have a high school diploma but have not finished any college program. My problem is that I don't have anything to show my skills and abilities. I may not have job experience in anything really outside retail but I have life experience doing a lot of different things. If I don't know how to do something I work my butt off to learn how to do it. No matter what I do I do it to the best of my abilities that allow me to excel in a job. The problem is getting a job truly worth my hard work.

How do I find a better job?

So I'm 21 years old. I'm working at Pizza Hut full time and I make roughly $13 per hour as a delivery driver. I also go to school full time. I want a new job but am years away from my Associates degree. I have no idea what I want to do as my career anymore and I feel stuck. I make a good bit of money at my job but no one respects a person who works at a fast food place. I don't want to be there for forever. I want nice things and Pizza Hut is not going to give them to me. I have no idea how everyone has a good career start right out of high school and I don't. I feel like I got the shaft. I have no family at all. I have no connections. And I have no idea even where to go to find a good job. Nothing pays more than I already make and is close to home. I can't take care of my future family working at freakin' Pizza Hut!!! What do I do?

How can I find a better job and make more money?

I am getting married in a year and a half. My fiance is a graduate student. He makes about 13,000 per year. I am a graduate student and substitute teacher. I only make about 3600 per year. We still get money from my parents to live off of until I am done with school in a year and a half. I am unable to find a full time job making any more money than I am now. I need to make 1000 per month and have flexible hours. I am not getting many hours at all at the high school I sub at right now. I really need a job with insurance. I have a BS in communication disorders but do not have a masters so I cannot be a speech pathologist. I need something flexible so I can complete my observations and student teaching. Any ideas besides the internet. I have tried all that stuff and it does not work. Thanks for the suggestions!

I can only speak about the US.There are many, many options other than a college degree. In the US, about 2/3 of jobs now require postsecondary (after high school) education, but many don’t require a bachelor’s degree. A bachelor’s degree is great, but it takes four years and a significant investment of money in addition to that time. In the US, there is financial support in the forms of loans, grants, and work-study grants, but it’s still a challenge.Every big city and every county I’ve ever been in has an office to help people find employment, and they can also help you find educational programs to help you get a better job. It will take some time and money, but not necessarily four or more years and tens of thousands of dollars. There are programs at many community colleges that can lead to an associate’s degree, but often do not require that. The jobs may pay well, and they may pay only a bit better than jobs that require no education. It depends on the program and job.Another option, if you are young, is Job Corps.Good luck!

How to get my husband to find a better job?

Don't you have to have a 4 year college degree to get accepted to law school? English wasn't your major. Which law school are you attending? Where is the money coming from?

What you are saying is so painful. If your husband doesn't make more money, despite you going to school, working at home for apparently VERY LITTLE MONEY as the founder of a nonprofit, and being mom to a little tyke, if husband, apparently the sole supporter of the household, doesn't start making more money.. then as soon as YOU are able to do so, you're going to dump him, take his kid, everything he has and he'll be alone. I think you ought to do that immediately. There is no decent excuse for you to use him to help support you through school when your plan is to get rid of him the moment you can. It speaks very, very poorly of you. You think you're good enough to get all his money, but he's not good enough to receive any of yours. It's really quite disgusting.

Does he know his only purpose is to cover your rent until you're done with him? I think you ought to let him know that so he can set you free right now and no longer be your source of "that which you are superior to". Very unbecoming.

Your best opportunity for a “better paying job” is to stay where you are. Those who switch jobs regularly never get anywhere (or far) because they always start at the bottom. If you have a dozen years with a company and are good at what you do, you may find advancement in a competing company or your own company. You’ll be seen as a stalwart. EVERYBODY is looking for these. NOBODY wants a jobber.

The best thing you can do is to continue to be supportive and loving.  Appreciate what your dad is already doing and let him know that you trust him and believe in him.  Often, the change we would like to see for someone only requires a change in attitude.  And it's not always their attitude that needs to change. If your desire to help your father succeed more fully is a selfless one, your belief in him will do wonders to change both your attitudes about the current situation.Practically, much of the other advice will help, but Dad needs to network.  Their is an old saying that "It's not what you know, but who you know."  The best jobs I have had are the ones I've gotten because someone I knew also knew someone with a good opportunity for me.

No. You should not do a job if you don't like it. By doing this you are not only doing wrong to yourself but also to the job you are doing.      Frankly, even I was in a similar situation 6 months back. Not liking my job and not getting a new job. Was really confused what should I do? Then I gave myself a deadline saying that if till this date I don't get a job then I'll resign anyway. Tried searching for the job. I failed. Took the risk. Resigned on that day even when I had no backup job. Some people said why you are taking such a risk when you don't have a confirm job in hand. Keep on searching the job and in the meantime continue with the current job. My answer to them was "I am not going to do something which I don't like just for the sake of money. There is a high possibility that I'll not get another job even 2-3 years if I am here. At that time I don't want to regret saying that if I had some courage at that time then I would not have been in this position now. There is also a possibility that I would not get a job even after I resign from here but I am all ready to accept that. After all I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done."      Now I had notice period of a month and did not receive any interview call in that duration. I was really worried about my future but at the same time I knew that I had taken the right decision. It was my last working day in the office and I finally got one interview scheduled at that day. I went there gave the interview and came to office for my last day and guess what? I cracked the interview there and got the job.      I have learned many things from this incident. Also this phase was really tough for me but now I am glad that this phase was part of my life because it has made me understand many things in life. So all I want to say is believe in yourself and go ahead. Remember, "Fortune favors the bold"

Best place/way to find a better job!?

Well my resources I use are: yahoohotjobs, monster, craigslist, careerbuilder. I also use staffing agencies like: Spherion, Manpower, Adecco and Staffmark. The only job I have gotten out of any of the above listed was Spherion, but lately they haven't helped me with anything. It seems like the staffing agencies aren't doing anything lately. It also seems lately that you have to KNOW someone nowadays that works at ANY job you want to get and even that is hard to do. Can I get an AMEN? AMEN!

It depends upon the various factors However job after would be focused on the administration level at the technology, finance, hospitality,Tourism Banking and insurance and so on . Besides that it would equip you with knowledge that will enable you to create your own job and create your own industry with the prospect of entrepreneurship.
