How To Find Research Article On Anorexia Nervosa Online

Anorexia Nervosa: What causes people to become anorexic?

My understanding is that nobody actually knows, but that there are several things that might be factors, or which at least correlate strongly.First, remember that it’s a mental illness. It is not a lifestyle choice or just a desire to be thin. And, while the most typical sufferer is a college aged woman, it affects men as well, and can start very young. It has a gradual onset rather than happening all at once. There is very often an underlying depression, and there may be trauma in the person’s past. For many, if not most, it comes down to a matter of control. Really the root of all stress is a feeling of not having control, and many anorexics have seized on their food quantity as something they can control. It’s a really bad coping mechanism, at least at first. There seem to be cultural forces at work since it is most common in developed nations. The disorder usually causes them to be perfectionists, see being “thin” as perfection, and lose their ability to see themselves accurately. That’s what makes it so deadly: It promotes a cycle that leads to less and less eating, getting thinner and thinner, all the while seeing a phantom in the mirror who isn’t thin enough yet.It takes a lot of work and support, primarily from good medical team, to recover.

Where can I find good online research papers?

This largely depends on what kind of subjects you are looking at, but broadly, here are a couple of good websites where you can find decent research papers, accessed through journals or independently within the platform:JSTOR: This is one of the best digital libraries for research papers, journals, books and the like. Some require payment to download, others are free. If your organisation (a university or so) has a subscription to it, you’ll find greater access to papers here.SAGE: This is similar to JSTOR and another great resource for credible journals and research papers. The download/payment/registration pattern is similar to that of JSTOR’s as well.OXFORD: Not much explanation needed. Oxford journals is an authentic and vast resource.Directory of Open Access Journals: A good free resource for peer-reviewed research papers.Academia: This one is largely used by academicians (students and professors etc) to share research papers, articles etc. The platform is specifically intended for independent research papers, published as well as unpublished. Student papers are also found here but credibility can be assessed via their profiles and such by the user, and the website itself has a screening process in place.Hope this helps!P.S. If all else fails, Google Scholar is worth a shot too!

Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa... 10 Points?

1) Anorexia and Bulimia are alike because they are both caused by low self esteem. They make the mind think you're overweight causing you to either, not eat, or get rid of the food you ate because you felt guilty.

2) Anorexia and Bulimia are both different also. Anorexia is the act of not eating. Bulimia is the act of throwing up your food after the fact that you've already ate it. Bulimia makes you feel guilty of eating food, therefore you have to get rid of it as soon as possible.

Hope I helped. xoxo.

Where, on the internet, can I find free research papers to read?

The answer to this depends on what topic(s) of research you are interested in.These days, many journals will make research freely available after an embargo period of 1–2 years, and may make some current articles freely available if the authors pay for open access or if they’re doing a promotion. To find that research, you go directly to the web sites for the journal(s) that you’re interested in. For example, you can go to Wiley Online Library to access the journals published by Wiley-Blackwell publishing. There are some excellent Open Access journals. PLOS One is a good example. There is a directory of open access journals at Directory of Open Access Journals .In the sciences, there are also the academic prepress servers like arXiv.org e-Print archive . These are often the best place to find the “latest” research in open access format.

How can I help someone who suffers from bulimia and anorexia nervosa?

Assume nothing.I am not sure if this individual has been diagnosed by a medical professional. If they have not, it may be damaging to treat them as if they are definitively anorexic and/or bulimic. Even if it feels rather apparent to friends and loved ones, the potential eating disorder (ED) sufferer either doesn’t have an ED and feels wrongly judged or does have an ED and may lash out/withdraw in an effort to keep the addiction intact. While there may a chance that the potential ED sufferer may take a non-clinical diagnosis well, it’s definitely safer to leave that to professionals. That said, it is absolutely valid to feel concern toward this person you care about. I would go a step further and promote verbalizing concern in a gentle, supportive way when you’re in a place (physically and emotionally) that feels safe.Be patient and informedEating disorders are incredibly demanding. Your friend/loved one may act differently. They may try to guard their potential ED through denial/lies, and it’s tough to break away from those behaviors. They may feel tortured, tired, afraid, or any number of things. It’s good to know what you may be in for. I would recommend doing some research and even attending support groups for friends/family of those with EDs if that feels right for you.Practice self-carePlease don’t forget to take care of yourself in this process. You can support your friends and loved ones best when you’re in a good place yourself.I could go on, but I hope this helps a little bit, at least. I wish you and yours all the best.
