How To Fix A Sore Throat.

How do you get rid of a sore throat?

Sore throats usually last between 1 to 3 days.  You can't get rid of the swollen red throat tissues permanently, but you can make it feel better now and then until it is gone.A lot of things that seem to make your throat feel better short term (e.g. hot chocolate, soup, tea, orange juice, popsicle, etc...) actually end up making the pain worse in the long run because they are irritating the tissues, you just can't tell while it is feeling better for a bit.For instance, a long time ago a doctor told me to gargle with water and a tiny bit of hydrogen peroxide in it, assuming it would kill the virus/bacteria and thus lead to a better feeling throat.  It does kill stuff, which probably makes the sore throat not last as long, but it doesn't help much with the pain. So, the #1 suggestion is usually gargling several times with water (slightly warmer than room temperature) with a tiny bit of salt in it (just like the dentist tells you to do for inflamed gums) and that is also supposed to sooth the throat tissues.  (Not sure how long this lasts pain wise, but you can do this as often as necessary.)The science behind why salt water is supposed to work:When a part of the body is hurt, chemicals are released to dilate the smallest blood vessels in that area. This widening of the vessels functions to increase blood flow which also allows fluid containing infection-fighting cells to leak into the hurt area (we know this as swelling).Salt water rinses reduce swelling through osmosis. As the salt water rinse bathes the swollen tissue there is a much higher concentration of salt than that contained within the tissue itself, it’s time for osmosis to do what it does best (restore balance).Osmosis functions to equalize the concentration of salt on both sides of the tissue cell membrane. Since salt molecules are too large to pass through the permeable membrane, it has no choice but to allow some of the excess fluid to leak out.  Less fluid inside the tissue means less pressure. Less pressure means less pain.Other usual things like anti-inflammatory meds (Advil, Aleve etc...) and vitamin C might help the sore throat not last as long, but they won't make it feel better immediately.  And of course the more water you drink and the more sleep you get the less you will suffer overall with the sore throat and the nose/chest problems that usually follow it.

How to fix a sore throat?

I've had a really sore throat since yesterday (Sunday) morning. It's now Monday night and it still hurts. How do I make it go away? So far, I've drank tons of tea with lemon and honey, cold water, gargled with warm salt water, dissolved cough drops in my mouth, and sprayed my throat with a spray. Are there any other things I can do?
Also, what might be causing this? I'm thinking it's really bad allergies because it gets really cold really quickly where I live and I get allergies in the Fall and Spring.
Thanks in advance!

HOW DO YOU Cure a Sore Throat fast!?

Slippery elm literally coats the throat, and provides almost immediate relief.

Any quick cure for sore throat?

Aside from wearing a scarf around your throat if you are in the cold air conditioning, I can think of no cure that does not involve gargling.

When you break the fast for the night, gargle with hydrogen peroxide. It will taste terrible, but you will get good pain relief. If your throat has become septic, this will help clean it.

You are probably dehydrated. This can dry your throat and cause the delicate tissue to crack, and become infected. When you break fast tonight, drink as much water and soup as you can. Avoid spicy foods and very sugary or salty foods. For one or two nights you can eat only salad, soup and fresh fruit.

If you are constipated, your throat pain may come from a condition called "thrush". You need to have fiber (rice is good) but must remember than fiber absorbs water and you are almost surely dehydrated. You must drink a lot of fluid when you can. .

Tonight when you break the fast, have kefir or yoghurt with cucumber, raw onion, and fresh garlic. Make a cold soup or beverage and fill up on this. Drink as much pure water as you can--this is extremely important--then gargle with hydrogen peroxide after you clean your teeth for the night. Gargle again after morning breakfast.

Dehydration and septic throat are conditions that can cause you harm. If you have a fever, or begin to feel feverish and chilled, please do break your fast. God is forgiving, and you can benefit from the humility of having been too ill to fulfill you inention this one day. It's all good.

Help me...SUPER sore throat..how can i fix this!?!?!?

Try real warm (not hot enough to burn your mouth with good amount of salt and garglle head back. Small amount at a time. Temporary relief.
HOWEVER, I have had STREP THROAT two times. Believe me, you wake up and it hits you, and you will know, if you compare it to previous sore throats.
If it persists, or gets worse, visit a DOCTOR to check it out, swab it and send to lab. An MD usually can tell upon exam if it is strep. I realize care is expensive, but worth is $$ if indeed is is S throat.
Antibiotics, relieves the pain pretty fast.
If your temp is elevated, pretty good indicator along with "yuckys" This "bugaboo", can wrek havok, in more ways than sore throat. The appearance of my throat was different, such as: REDNESS, WHITISH LINES, THAT pain, occured bothe times. It was worse than when I had my tonsilectomy at age 12 yrs. old.
TRY GARGLE for temp> results. Please NEVER take antibiotics, unless, you have seen a doctor. If he did a throaat swab it should have been sent to a lab where a Culture and Sensitivity possibly was performed. The results would show type of virus/bacteria and if the antibiotic is sensitive or resistant to the medication. Usually, Penicillen type is used and prettly effective, if taken as directed. Antibiotics cause more problems if not taken for full amount of days for which is was ordered, even if you feel better. If no relief within 2 days, do NOT pass go, run to the phone and report to your doctor.

How can I treat a sore throat on my dog?

First, how do you know he has a sore throat? Is he coughing, having trouble swallowing, not eating, choking on his food? Sore throats per se are not common in dogs. Many diseases and conditions can cause coughing, none of which have to do with sore throat: pneumonia, sinus infections, heart disease are among them. Trouble swallowing might indicate a throat problem, but you would have to take him to the vet to see if there was a foreign body in there, an abcess, a mass, an ulcer, enlarged tonsils etc. If he is not eating, he could be sick with anything including a GI infection, tooth abcess, kidney or liver disease, any kind of febrile illness. If he is choking on his food he could have an esophageal problem such as megaesophagus or a blockage from a foreign body or mass. The bottom line if you think there is a problem with your dog he needs to see your vet. The vet will examine him, take his temperature, and open his mouth and look down the throat as far as possible and palpate it to determine what is wrong, then prescribe treatment. There is nothing you could do at home since you don’t know what the underlying problem is.

How to cure a sore throat after a concert?

Cures? Time. However, you can make it feel better with a few simple steps. The best would be an equal mix of honey and lemon juice, one tablespoon at a time. It tastes ok and can coat your throat. Depending on age and medical history, licorice root may also be useful. You can get that fairly easily, either in the tea aisle of your grocery store or in some of the Ricola cough drops.

How can you treat a bad cough and a sore throat?

As someone who frequently gets sick (along with catching a nasty cough) I've only found one thing that works to really suppress my cough. Unfortunately Home remedies for cough is only available by prescription. If you can go see your doctor, make sure that you first don't have something much more serious than just a cough, like bronchitis or pneumonia (he or she may order a chest X-ray, but usually they can tell by just listening to your breathing). Then ask him or her if they can prescribe something called Tussionex. It's a liquid cough medicine that has hydrocodone in it, a narcotic that helps to suppress the area of your brain that recognizes that tickle in your throat and forces you to cough. It does tend to make you a little drowsy though, so make sure you know how it affects you before you drive or anything. If you are wary of taking narcotics, try a different at home remedy. Stir a teaspoon of salt into a cup of warm water, mix, and then gargle it. Also drinking lots of tea and taking a medicine that relieves congestion (stuffy nose) will help to dry out any postnasal drip you've been having, which sometimes activates the cough reflex.
