301 keyboard error and Windows XP problems?

First I would check to see if the keyboard is connected correctly. If it is a USB keyboard I would try a different port. Try a different keyboard if you can borrow one or try your keyboard on another computer to assure yourself it is good or bad. If wireless, replace the batteries unless you know for sure they are good. This error shows up as a generic message for keyboard errors, most people see it when their keyboard is not connected. Could be the keyboard, could be the connection on the motherboard, or could be the drivers are gone.

Bad news is with the other info you have given it seems to me you could have one nasty worm/virus eating away at your files. If you can't get the keyboard up and working your best bet is finding a computer techie or taking the unit to the pros. Sorry. But first try your keyboard on a different computer and/or try a different keyboard on your PC.

Can I use Knoppix to fix Unmountable Boot Volume error on windows?

My desktop has died and gives me the bluescreen of death - Unmountable Boot Volume.
I've recovered my data using Knoppix live CD so that's ok. But i'm wondering if I can use knoppix to fix windows? The guides ive read say about replacing the boot.ini windows file, but I can't see how as you can't write to NTFS harddrives with knoppix. Is there any way around this,, or am i barking up the wrong tree completely. failing that i'll need to re-install windows and lose all my software, but I don't have a windows xp disc. Is there anywhere to download or get one?

Why is Windows XP throwing an error message saying: no boot device?

That’s not Windows XP displaying that error message, it’s your BIOS. The BIOS is like a tiny little computer that starts up your Windows XP installation. The BIOS is telling you that it cannot find a drive of any kind that has a valid boot sector. This could mean that your drive has failed or that the cable failed or became disconnected. It could also be a load of other seemingly unrelated issues.I suggest you take it to a local PC repair shop to have it looked over. Check in Yelp to find someone well rated, well priced, and well reviewed to save yourself a lot of grief.
