Mirror ipad air with smart tv wirelessly without apple TV?
Hi, I have an IOS 8.4 ipad air and want to buy a samsung smart tv (UE43J5600). I would like to know if there is a way for me to mirror my ipad screen on my TV without buying the APPLE TV box. There is a mirroring app built in the TV but it will only work with samsung products so this is not going to work. Is there an app or an hack out there that I could use to solve my problem ?

A lot of apps offer casting to Smart TVs. My Vizio Smart TV comes with an app that allows me to stream content to it, even from other apps. Newer Smart TVs are getting updates that give them full AirPlay which would allow you to do it. If you want to mirror your whole screen though, you need AirPlay support of some kind, so either an Apple TV or a Smart TV with AirPlay support. If you just want to cast from a specific app though, you may be able to do that through app and a corresponding app on the TV.

They don't need to be running simultaneously. I was thinking of a free movie streaming website (yes i am a cheapskate) so not Netflix etc. Also, can full screen games eg. Football manager be mirrored into another tv. Ps I have the latest Mac mini and an iPad 2 if that is any help. i have a MiraScreen brand device plugged into the HDMI port on my tv. It uses wifi to connect my iPad to the tv using airplay mirroring. It can also be used to cast from a Windows 10 device to the tv. When I purchased mine it was only $8.00USD but they now cost about $18.00USD on Amazon. Setup can be trying and there is some latency. The latency may be an issue if online gaming is your thing but for everything else it is not an issue. Sound on movies is perfectly synced. Any device that supports either Miracast, DLNA or Airplay can use it.
