How To Gain More Confidence In Basketball

How do I gain basketball shooting confidence?

So I have a problem where I get really mad when I miss one shot. And once I get mad I miss more shots. This happens mostly in a basketball shoot around. When it came to a game I was afraid to take a shot and it hurted my team because I was afraid of missing a shot. I'm really getting tired of losing confidence in shooting so how do I get confidence when shooting a basketball?!!

Gain confidence in basketball?

Don't get distracted if you miss your first couple of shots, stay focused and keep shooting and staying aggressive. Have a little bit of a chip on your shoulder like you know nobody on the court is better than you. Driving to the hoop aggressively can help open up your jumper by making your man play the drive, giving you a little bit more space. Also, play more full court pick up games for practice.

How do I gain more confidence at finishing in basketball?

If you watch experienced basketball players in a gym you’ll notice something about all of them. When they’re walking around or near the basket, they flip up little shots with what looks like little concern. They’ll shoot little underhand scoop shots, reverses, floaters, runners and bank shots with English off the backboard. Often times they’ll miss many of the shots, so they seem like they’re just goofing around, but these shots do have a purpose. When I was learning basketball I noticed many experienced players would do this, and I wasn’t sure why. I started trying it myself and instantly noticed the benefits. This “drill” improves your finishing because you’re getting experience with those shots. Now when I am practicing by myself that’s how I start off most days. I use it as a way to warm up. I’ll go shoot some stationary reverses, as well as floaters and runners. When you do this I’d suggest not going 100%. If you slow down you’ll get to concentrate more on the finishes themselves, and less on footwork and balance. While it’s not a perfect drill, it works. If you shoot shots you’re uncomfortable with, like with your off hand or while you’re off balance, you become more familiar and therefore better.Skill= Quantity of practice X quality of practice

I have lost confidence in my game. I'm struggling on the basketball court, what can I do?

You have 2 options, shoot it out. So take a real heap of shots, it doesn't matter if you only get something like 4 from 20, at least it gets your stroke back. Or if shooting is not your thing, just pass it out. So just do the little things and then your offence will follow. But your 1st instinct should be to pass, just don't 2nd guess your shot.
Try to take people off the dribble some more, attack the rim so at least you can draw a foul. Like Kevin Durant today scoring 29 points off 8/26 fg attempts. Just get to the line.
But the main thing to do is pass, attack and always believe the next shot is falling in.

Can a basketball camp give the confidence to play well?

It certainty can! Choose camps wisely. Our three boys have been going to basketball camps for the past 8–9 years. They always come back having learned something, continuing to love the game, and really psyched to get out and practice what they’ve learned.Youth players are developing players. Good camps/coaches realize that they path to a player’s success replies on self-confidence. No better way to teach confidence, in my opinion, than to allow kids to make mistakes. Developing players need to be *allowed* to operate outside of their comfort zones, and to take risks on the floor. I’ve seen too many coaches (and parents!) come down hard on their kids for missing shots, lay-ups, not seeing the perfect pass, etc. Kids NEED to get out there, try new moves, and make their mistakes. With praise for trying! Find a camp/coaches that subscribe to that philosophy, and with your blood, sweat, and tears, you’ll become the best player that you can possibly be.In fact - this Summer, one of my sons got scouted by a major prep school at camp. He’s interviewing there tomorrow. Talk about a confidence boost! He’s never been on anyone’s radar before, until he showed up to the right camp with the right attitude!Good luck!

OCD cashier, how to gain confidence?

I'm OCD and also a cashier and I'm confident and good at it but its after people leave that I get worried. I wonder if something didn't get scanned. I'm very thurough and am 99.9% sure I scan everything but I'm always worried something was under something and didn't see it.

So is this a common worry as a cashier? I asked my manager and said its possible to miss things but like ammo and clothes... Just so worried when you have mass customers that something didn't scan OR a customer hid something.

How do I increase my confidence for practicing basketball?

Assuming you know the basics of basketball, play as much organized or pickup basketball as possible. This is the most effective way to gain confidence in your game.Have decent handles but freeze up when you're guarded in a game? Start by playing one on one against someone that's a good defender and keep trying to get past them, and when you can do this consistently do it in 5 v 5 games. Can't make shots? Make sure you can first make layups with decent footwork with both hands. Work on your shooting by yourself or with a friend, just keep shooting from everywhere on the floor until you can make them consistently. Try to have good form when you shoot. Once you're a good standstill shooter run the ray Allen drill where you run back and forth on the wings and have someone pass it to you , squaring up and going straight up to shoot it when you receive the pass. Now, in games, the opposing team can't leave you open due to your lack of a jump shot and you can cause more issues for them.Learn the fundamentals on offense and defense. There's a lot to cover here that could take me pages but the jist of it is to work hard on defense and help your team prevent the other team from scoring. On offense, learn how to set a strong pick, and roll off these picks, also paying attention to openings to cut into when you're off the ball.Remember, the only way to gain confidence is to play, play, and play. Ask for the ball when you're open as pickup basketball isn't always team oriented - there will be ball hogs - and you have to earn players' respect to get the ball.
