I am getting admission in dental government collage (Gujarat) should I drop a year for mbbs?
This one i would love to answer as someone who has been at that very crossroad.1.Congratulations are in order.2.If you really have that faith in yourself about clearing MBBS next year i suggest, you join this BDS course you are being offered, you will have a far better understanding of Anatomy and all other medical related sujects which are similar to MBBS first year.3. This way you will be better prepared for your MBBS if you clear or atleast have a better understanding of the examination you are going to give.4.The point here being, do not drop a year sitting at home or taking a coaching class it means doing something which might help you.P.S. You are the best stage of your life, make wise choices remember you have to earn as well BDS is a complete no-no but plain MBBS will hold nothing in the future and you may have to work really hard to crack post graduation, and put in almost 10 years of your life at stake starting from now.

Hi there.As far as she doesn't want to apply for gov. Job, her Registration will be valid all over India.I had studied BDS in Karnataka, then transferred my registration to Gujarat ( my hometown).And now after marriage I am back to Bangalore, but I haven't got my registration transferred back to Karnataka state.I did inquire about the same in Guj. Dental council. There they had advised me the same.So private practice in somebody's clinic or opening your own will not be a problem.If want to give government exam of perticular state, then definitely get registration transferred.Still to be 100% sure, inquire in your respective state dental council.
Is it true that to get a good government job in India, bribing (to clear the interview) is inevitable?
I am class 1 officer with central government PSU and that to without bribing. I was not asked about any kind of money before or after interview.However, i would like to add following point about bribing to get govt job.In any central govt recruitment 10-15-% of seats filled through bribe.but for that you need direct approach, it is not like that you walk in and offer the money and you get the job( i am not showing you how to get job through bribe).Any job which filled through direct recruitment is having common written exam, with advent of RTI and other strict measure one must clear the exam.While i was asked some lakhs of money when i appeares for gujarat state petronet corporation campus placement. I was sure of my capability and i refuse. The batchmate who offered the money get the job and i didn't? Luckey me.!!! Should i be anonymous? Better i would, or i will be charged with defamation case like kejriwal.

Its not that a fresher dentist cannot earn in India, dentists can earn very well in any part of the world but it all depends on your skill and confidence, its true that hospitals don't pay that much to dentists but you can also open up your own practice, and I have seen people earning 60-70k per month just from private practice. For your 2nd part, While its not that dentists don't have a future, its also true that quality of dental education has deteriorated in India, along with rampant corruption from part of authorities giving permissions just on the basis of money; this has led to many colleges being opened without basic facilities and sufficient patients; graduates passing from colleges like these have a difficult future ahead, since they have the degree, but they don't have the skill or confidence to treat someone. For them I would say that their future is difficult although not impossible, unless they have a good financial backup and go on to do PG by donations of 50-60 lacs; for rest of us who have the confidence and skill future is not dismal.Don't be depressed man, their are plenty of options after BDS also, if you just look around. For starters:1.You can go for PG2.You can go to Army dental Corps3.You can open your own clinic4.You can apply for government jobs like in National health mission where one can easily earn 30-40K without much headache5.You can go for contractual jobs in government hospitals6. You can prepare for NBDs which would make you eligible to work in US where pay is high and more growth opportunities (if going to US is one of your interest) 7. You can work with pharmaceutical companies in their research labs.8. You can pursue an MBA in hospital administration and go to work as an administrator (this is a lucrative job these days especially for BDS, I have seen many of my juniors and colleagues going for it now)9. You can pursue a degree n Public health like MPH from good institutes and then work with many reputed organizations like CARE, Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, WHO, UNICEF, UNESCO, UN aid, US aid etc.See, there are so many options if you just look around. Open your eyes to opportunities and decide what you want out of life whether its a private practice, Corporate job, working at rural areas and improving them, working at policy level anything.
