How To Get Better At School When You

How can I, as a student, make my school a better place?

Often what a school needs to become a better place is for everyone--students and adults--to treat each other better.Treat everyone with respect--fellow students, faculty, administrators. Help keep your school clean--if you walk along and see a gum wrapper on the floor, pick it up and throw it out. Acknowledge people.  If you see someone you know, smile and say hello.  If you pass a teacher you don't know, at least smile.  Include more people in your group of friends. See if another student looks as if s/he is left out--at least introduce yourself and talk to him/her.  You don't have to be friends, but be nice.Recognize that no one is beneath anyone else.  Smile and say hello to the cleaning people as well as the people who work in the cafeteria. If a student says something hurtful or mean about another student, tell them that is not a good thing to say.  It's difficult, but you can tell them that that kind of language makes you uncomfortable.Thank your teacher as you leave class. They have put a lot of effort into preparing the lesson.Improving a school often means improving the atmosphere between students and students and students and adults.  It is not hard for an individual to do, but it requires vigilance.  If more students act this way, the school gradually, and then more quickly, gets better.

How do i get my 5.5 yr old son to do better in school? He's easily distracted and doesn't do his assignments

He's a smart boy, great reader, good at math, but despite our emphasis on how important school is and our punishments for not doing well in school, I can't seem to get it through his head. He completes half or less thanhalf of what he's assigned to do in school and gets "strikes" for inappropriate behavior such as making noises, geting distracted, misbehaving, etc.

How do I get better grades in middle school?

I'm so sorry!
Not liking your school is probably a huge part of it. It's been what, a semester? maybe you need to make new friends?
Apply yourself! I have known so many kids that were in advanced classes and really smart kids, but at some point they stopped doing their best work. Or, they just stopped turning it in.Which was weird. If you do your work, TURN IT IN!!!
Try to find something you like about school. A great teacher that you can go to for help. DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP!
OHHH!!! And don't start looking for relationships yet! You're too young and it's a waste of time and totally gets in the way. TRUST ME! The comple stranger. But really boys/girls mess with your focus.

Oh and grades for college! Only if you take a language or algebra or geometry. Colleges don't really look at if you failed history in 6th grade.

Good luck kid. High school is way better :) But try to enjoy middle school too!

I Regret Not Doing Better In School?

I will graduate high school in about a month. I have started to regret not trying harder in school. Throughout high school I got mostly B's and C's, and an occasional A. To be honest, those grades are not that bad, and I don't plan on going to college, but still I just wish I had of tried harder.

My high school years have been pretty tough really. We moved across the country at the beginning of 8th grade, so I didn't have any proper friends for about a year. Then during 9th and 10th grade my parents got divorced and it was very, very messy. In 11th and 12th grade I went through some issues of my own, I had a couple of health problems that left me feeling constantly tired and defeated. I also got a 15-hour-a-week part time job in 11th and 12th grade which only added to the pressure.

I regret not getting better grades, being more social and doing more extra curriculars. I feel that I am exiting high school having achieved nothing. I do sort of know what I want to do for work, but I just don't know how to go about it.

Quite frankly, I just need some advice, support and maybe some inspiring stories from others. I don't want to go to the school guidance counselor because whenever I go to see her she always pressures me to go to college or university when i have no interest or reason to go. (The school wants me to go to college to keep it's own statistics up).

I just don't know what to do to make myself feel better about this situation.
