How To Get Into Harvard If I

How to get into Harvard?

I really want to go to Harvard Law school to become a lawyer. I'm only in 7th grade, so I still have all the high school years ahead of me. Any suggestions on how to get REALLY good grades so I can get into Harvard? I get really good grades now, but middle school is easy. Is it true that to get into Harvard you have to have a 4.0 GPA? Isn't that the highest you can get? Wouldn't you have to get all 100s? Please help, I know little about this stuff because I'm 12 :)
PS: Yes, I will be able to pay for it and here are some activites that I do. (Will they help?)

*Swim (Varsity swimming next year as an 8th grader)
*Track (First year this year. Maybe I will be able to do varsity next year because I know I have skill...

Thats it! I don't want to join chorus or band or orchestra but I might join chorus in high school.

PS: Please, no mean comments

Can I get into Harvard?

Hello .
Part I.
All my life, the one dream that I have strived for is to gain admittance into Harvard University. Currently I am a sophomore in high school and in need of some extreme guidance as to if this fantasy has any chance of becoming a reality. I attend a very well known and rigorous public [technically private school] and work harder than anyone else that I know. Last year went pretty well except for one thing that has been eating me alive. I GOT A B for the first time in my life… an 89% to be exact in alg2. Is there any way to fix this… I know that it may seem insane but this to me is an ink stain on my transcript???? Can I fix it without retaking the class?

Part II.
So here are my current involvements this year……
1. National Honor Society [vp next year/ prez the year after]
2. ASB Lieutenant
3. Science Olympian
4. Debate
5. Craft Club
6. Culture Club

Outside of school
1. I am the president of an all girls youth group/ society
2. I tutor art theory, music, physical science, math, history and several other subjects
3. I run my own nonprofit organization
4. I am a pianist and flutist
5. Taking Latin and Italian [so I hopefully will have mastered 8 languages]
6. I also plan on competing in various other competitions throughout high school in which i am interested in [debate, creative writing, spelling bees, oratory competitions ect…]
7. So far this year I have 800 community service hours

one thing that i have also been doing is maintaining contact with alums for advice and i have a few friends who attend the school.

Can i get into harvard?

How do you know that Harvard is the best match for you? You need to let the admission officers why is that so. Also, get high grades as possible and not to rely on a specific range of GPA's. Do also things that you love the most. I am a Harvard student and I got in with these statistics:
Weighted GPA: 4.851
Unweighted GPA: 4.000
SAT Score: 2360 Math-800 Reading-780 Writing-780
ACT Score: 34 composite
I took 28 AP classes. Most of them are through k12 distance learning courses
I got a 5 on all of my AP tests except AP Physics B and C which I got a 4
I was the class valedictorian
I was a four year varsity member of my school's volleyball team, tennis team, and swimming
I was an all-American athlete for tennis and all-stars for both volleyball and swimming
I am half Filipino, quarter Malaysian, quarter Thai
I was a volunteer for four years with many organizations
I was an intern at a hospital every summer
I was the student body president for three years
I was the state of Hawaii board of education student member for three years
I was the Hawaii state student council vice president for three years
I was an AP national scholar
I started two clubs and I want to become a Brain surgeon
On my essay, I talked about how my life in the Philippines affected my goal of becoming a doctor.
I also talked about growing up as the son of a lawyer and a doctor. How I want to change my perfect into something imperfect so I can learn something new.
And by the way I am only 16 years old. I entered Harvard two years earlier than my friends.
Remember talk about what are your goals and how Harvard will help you reach those. My advice is to talk something that you are really passionate about. I talked about my interest with medicine all the way through my application. You also need to establish good relationships with your teachers for recommendation letters. Do campus visit and if you are given an interview, don't let it slip.
But even if you do this, Harvard is unpredictable, there is no guarantee that you will get in. Harvard is one of the best school in the nation and I declined university of Cambridge's offer to go to Harvard.
Be consistent with your reasons that will show the ollege that you are passionate about something.
Remember tell your reasons you want to go to Harvard. If you need help, just ask me.

Can i get into Harvard with a C or a low B?

Okay, about me!
First, I am a freshman at a very rigorous magnet school. I have a GPA around a 3.7. I have 6 a's and 2 very low c's. My c's are in accelerated math and AP environmental science. I can make my c in math go up to around a low b; however I doubt I can make my AP grade go up. My extracurricular activities include envirothon team, math team and engineering team. At the moment I have no leadership roles because I am a freshman. I would like to go to Harvard to study pre-med and math. (How ironic considering I have a low c in that class...)
I would like your advice on getting into Harvard, any tricks that would help me in AP Env. Science, has anyone ever gotten into Harvard with a c and my chances (u don't have to exact or anything any answer would be beneficial). =]
I really, really want to get in and I would really appreciate your help.
Thank you so, so, so much.
Have an amazing day!

Can i get into Harvard?

it might not be up to you. If your school is not a top rated high school , or if you are not in a competitive academic program it will all be for nothing.Harvard only wants the #1 or #2 student from top rated schools. Of course if you play men's basketball that changes a few things I If you know anyone who graduated start kissing up they love legacy students . Good Luck Kid

How hard is it to get into Harvard?

In a word? VERY.

Out of the average of 25,000 students that apply to Harvard yearly, only a small 7% of them get in.

As you probably already know, you won't get into Harvard with good grades alone. You're heading toward the right direction; Harvard want the BEST of the BEST, and you need to show that...

- you've had a good high school GPA
- very high scores on your SAT (or ACT)
- you've done community/volunteer work
- you do sports. You don't have to be 1st at championships or anything, they just want to see that you do an activity
- you do an extracurricular - anywhere from taking French, woodshop, or if you're the 1st chair in the orchestra. Even better, take a quirky extracurricular, and get good at it! It shows individuality.
- you have good leadership skills
- you have good people skills, VERY IMPORTANT. Show that you can get along with people, in any enviroment.

Basically, they want you to be well rounded. Why? Sure, you have good grades, but if you can't put anything to use and don't have the creativity to make something ingenious, what's the point, right? Or, what if you were a crazy-mad inventor, but you're bad tempered and can't get along and work with people?

Also, they will most likely be interviewing you before they let admit you. Show them that you have a passion, an eagerness to learn. Be bold. They don't want some boring person, y'know? They want people that are willing to do whatever it takes for them to reach their goal.

Three main points: well-rounded in everything that you do, passionate, and good people skills.

But, so what if you don't get into Harvard? For every successful Harvard graduate, there's 10 more coming from schools that you've never heard of. The school doesn't mean anything, it what YOU do, and how hard YOU work.

I'm sorry for the long rant - I hope I helped. Best of luck getting into Harvard in a few years!

How to get into a University like harvard with a GED?

Harvard takes people with the GED. Most of them were homeschooled and not enrolled in a real diploma program, but did something very impressive anyway. However, if you've gone to a college, you'd be enrolling as a transfer applicant, not a freshman - and it is very, very difficult to transfer into Harvard. Many years they don't take any transfer students. When they do, it's about 1% of all the applicants. You'd need a lot more than just a fantastic GPA and test scores.
