Why does children's hair turn from straight to curly or curly to straight?

I don’t really know why that happens but I really did agree to get my daughter’s head shaved twice in order to get back her original straight hair ;-)It is my husband’s family custom to shave the head of a girl baby 3 times, once a year for the first 3 years. My daughter’s hair was so straight when she was born but after we shaved it the first time, her hair started growing curly. really curly!when my in laws insisted we shave it again after her second bday, I was not so happy but it suddenly occurred to me that she might get back her straight hair and agreed!now, she has super straight hair and am happy about the decision!what about the third time - well, am really not planning on that one ;-)

Can curly hair be straightened with perms?

My hair is also very curly, and growing up, I hated it. I never knew how to properly take care of it back when I was in school, it was so frizzy and dry. Kids used to tease me for it, they called me a caveman and told me my hair looked like straw. I remember that I would constantly daydream that my life would be better with straight hair.Any method there is to straighten hair, I've tried. In high school, I bought a box of at-home hair relaxer. My mom has curls as well, and had always warned me not to mess with my hair, but I locked myself in the bathroom and did it anyway, and left with a crisscross of half-straight-half-curly hair that took years to grow out. When I was 20, I walked into a high end hair salon and asked them to relax my hair. They outright refused, saying it'd cost me $1000 and they'd have to cut off half of my hair since it was such a harsh process. Instead, they offered the $400 Keratin treatment, which gave OK results but only lasted 5 months.I only learned to be happy with my hair in my 20’s, when I found the curly hair subreddit and thus the curly girl method. After finding the products that really work for my hair, it feels silky soft and I now can't see myself without my curls. They truly feel like part of my identity, and to permanently change them would be permanently changing myself. You can relax it, you can do the keratin treatment like I did, you can even straighten your hair every day with a flat iron, but you will always be throwing money at salons and home kits to keep it straight, and it does nothing but damage your hair and make it look worse. For better or for worse, your curls will always be with you. If I have any suggestions at all, it would be to seek professional help from someone trained in curly hair. They can look at your specific hair type and help you find a result you are happy with, whether it means a more flattering cut for your curls or relaxing it entirely to get the straight hair you want.Just please do not do anything without seeing a stylist first.

Has anyone tried Hawaiian Silky Hair Relaxer?

It is a good brand, one thats been around a while so it is perfected. It is one of the only relaxers on the market that has conditioners in it so the effects are not as damaging, and any one with a medium to coarse texture can use it. If you are planning to use it on your hair, timing is everything, five to ten minutes will loosen a curl, but fifteen to twenty will completely straighten. If your hair is short you can comb it through with a large tooth comb and get the same effects as an "s" curl.
Make sure you buy the shampoo and conditioner of the same brand to use immediatedly after.
