This may seem like a strange answer but there is excellent research behind it.Get together with like minded students in your class and discuss what behaviors you want to see in your teacher. Then make an agreement among as many of the other students as possible while keeping it a secret from your teacher.When your teacher approximates a behavior (teaching method/style) you all like smile at him/her and make positive eye contact. When he/she is teaching using a method/style you don’t like, be respectful and nice, but don’t make eye contact and don’t smile (don’t frown either). If the teacher does something you all really like, not only smile and make positive eye contact, but also compliment him/her on your way out of class and do it very sincerely - making certain the compliment contains specific and concrete points about what you liked in his/her way of teaching the material. (i.e. The example you gave today was great, it really helped me understand…..)This is called behavior modification. Research in classrooms has shown this to actually work. It takes time, but it is a respectful way to improve the teaching, and it makes everyone feel better. The changes that will occur will be lasting IF you and the other students all do it with the genuine and heartfelt reason of helping the teacher improve.

I have one question to ask you. What are you afraid of? A diagnosis of ADHD does not change who you are. It is just a label that people use to try to understand what you are going through so they can help you. Having ADHD doesn't mean you are stupid. Many people who have ADHD have above normal intelligence and are very creative. I don't think it is anything to be ashamed of. There are many different methods to choose from to help you focus from help with organization to medications. Sometimes more than one method is used. It sounds to me that you are old enough and smart enough to be part of the decision making process of what goes on. I don't think your parents will get upset with you and would just want to help you. Also if you are worried about what other kids may say you don't have to tell them or you can learn about it and educate them. You may even do better in school When you are diagnosed with ADHD you can get extended time on tests so you can be graded on what you know, rather than what you can complete in a certain amount of time. I really think if you do have ADHD it would be in your best interest to see what is out there to help you. You can learn some skills that you can use to help you throughout life.
