How To Get Rid Of Blue Nail Polish Stains On My Finger Nails

Nail polish stained my nails?

Well I didn't use a base coat cause I ran out and didn't think it'd be that big of a deal. So I used a Sally Hansen nail art pen (teal) on my nails for dots and when I went to take it off today all other nail polish but the dots from the pen came off. I use acetone to take it off and it won't come off any tips? And if you're going to say "don't buy such cheap nail polish" well I don't want to hear it. It wasn't cheap. So I just want solutions not "well blah blah blah you should've though to use a base coat"

How to remove Nail Polish stains from fingernails...?

Removing Almost any Stain
1. Soak your nails in warm water with dishwashing liquid added for 10 minutes.
2. Scrub the surface of the nails lightly with a terry washcloth.
3. Scrub the surface of the nails lightly with a soft nailbrush or toothbrush.
4. Dip a cotton swab in hydrogen peroxide and swab the nails to lighten any remaining stains.
5. Buff your nails lightly with a very fine-grit emery board or nail file.
Still Got Stains?
1. Wash your nails with a soft toothbrush and whitening toothpaste.
2. Cut a lemon in half. Loosen up the pulp. Stick your fingertips into the cut lemon halves and swirl them around for about 5 minutes. The lemon juice acts like a mild bleach on your nails.
3. Dilute 1 part bleach with 10 parts water and soak your nails in the solution. Gently scrub under the nails with the bleach solution to remove any remaining stains from under your nails.

Nail polish stained nails?

I had the same problem with a dark green, it was terrible. First of all throw that nail polish in the trash, as it is terrible. I could never fix it, and just wore other colors to cover it up while it lasted, but it is always a good idea to test a nail polish by putting on half of the tip of a fingernail, and removing it half an hour later, if it stains don't keep it, if it doesn't then it probably won't stain it ever.

Also, the bull about nails turning color from lack of nutrition is total bull. Nail material is dead form the moment it is created, the only time a lack of nutrition of any kind (including air and sunlight) will hurt your nails is if you are suffering from scurvy, and then it is because the nails are made poorly and yellow, not because they were painted. However thinning a nail by repeated surface filing, grinding and buffing things the nail, which can lead to misshaping and an unhealthy nail bed, which can become yellow and pass on the color.

I painted my nails with red nail polish for a few weeks and they turned yellow. I stopped painting them, but the color won't go away (for a month now). What can I do to get rid of it?

I've painted the nails on many hands in my life and saw this often. Basically the pigments in brightly coloured nail polishes will stain your nails. The nail polish can be cheap or expensive, old or new, but if has red toned pigments it will stain your nails. Every beauty book will tell you to use a base coat, but usually this isn't effective over a long time. The reason why is that even when the base coat is dry, when you apply the coloured nail polish over the top it sometimes can slightly re-liquify the base coat underneath (you can test this easily, if you try to wipe off polish when wet, all layers get wiped off). This allows the pigments to penetrate and touch the nail surface and stain it. There are products that can remove the stain, and yes lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide solution may work, but they'll also thin and weaken the nails. This staining is purely cosmetic, eventually the stained nail will grow out and it will return as normal, assuming you don't paint your nails anymore. Patience is the best thing. In the meantime use a single coat of pale lilac nail polish. Lilac is a complementary colour to yellow, so it will neutralise it and your nails will still look pinkish.

My hands, fingers, and nails are stained blue?

I was trying to get blue ink out of my pencil bag, but I stained all of my hands. I got most of it off with soap, but my actual nails are still blue! How can I clean my stained blue fingernails?

Help! My nail polish turned my nails ORANGE! What do I do to make it go away?

If nailpolish remover doesnt work, try using a nail file to lightly scrape off the color. Try not to damage the nail, though.

You can always paint over it until it goes away, but I think normal wear and tear would get rid of it faster--not that you want to look at that ugly orange. Bathe a lot? Maybe that will help...

How can I remove nail polish stains from my jean?

The best thing to do would be to get some clear acetone (nail polish remover), then apply some to the stain and gently rub it with a toothbrush. While its still wet, blot it with a paper tower, pressing hard so that the acetone and the nail polish absorb into the paper towel. Keep using different spots on the paper towel. After removing the stain or most of it, put some Oxyclean stain remover (spray or gel) on the area of the stain and rub it in with a clean toothbrush. Wait a few minutes, then wash in a washing machine with hot water.

Why do my nails turn yellow after using nail polish?

Those stating that you are simply are not using a high quality base coat are incorrect. Regardless of the basecoat you use, the colors will leach through either during wear or while you are in the process of removing the polish. This can be illustrated when, as you are removing the polish, pigment tends to smear around your fingertips; moreso with darker colors. I have used 5$ basecoats as well as 30$ basecoats.Green and blue polishes tend to stain the nails more than others (at least for visible staining). Please do not buff your nail to rid yourself of the yellow staining, this will only serve to weaken your nail. The only solution that MAY work is using a peel-off basecoat (UNT makes an excellent one) it’s thick to help avoid leaching and, due to you not having to break down the polish using a remover, it does not leach cause leaching during removal. The downside to this is that, depending on your level of activity, care, and the curvature of your nails; wear time is quite limited as compared to standard base coat.

Help! My nail polish stained my toes!?

Aah you'll find this happens when you don't use a base coat before applying a bold nail varnish. You can buy a base coat, or a 3 in one (base coat, top coat and conditioner) really cheap off the internet (Barry M) or in a supermarket or drugstore.
It'll help protect your nail from this staining in the future. To get it off now, you'll probably find that it comes off in a warm shower/bath. If this fails then give it a few days and then try taking it off again with nail varnish remover. If you want to go out then just use a base coat and then a french pink to brighten your nails, but also give them time to recover.

To remove the polish from your skin and toes use a Q tip (Cotton bud) and dip it in the nail varnish remover. Then go over the polish and hopefully it should come off. If not repeat this process after a warm bath/shower and you'll find this works really well.

Hope this helps :)
