How can I get over Facebook addiction? I visited Facebook for personal purposes planning on going back off after a month of usage and now I'm super addicted again.

Realize it’s not the Facebook but the issues. By that I mean that addiction is a symptom of an underlying need not being met. But we don’t start there. We start with abstinence training. First- allow yourself only a certain amount of time each day to be on Facebook. If you get tempted go sign back on just tell yourself you’ll sign on tomorrow. Limit your Facebook activities to a few to be done in your daily FB “session”. Typically I read any messages, post or comment on another’s post, wish happy birthdays and congratulations ( this time of year is graduation time) and like another’s post. This is all done in a 1/2 Hour session. Anyhthing else you have to “address” will be there tomorrow. Good Luck to you.

I feel that I'm addicted to Facebook. How can I get out from Facebook?

I too had the same addiction of Facebook. Two years back, when I was pursuing engineering,I was damn addicted to social sites. Then, one day I realized the demerits of it.I felt how a person can ruin the whole day by using facebook…I started to deactivate my I'd for weeks.Still,I couldn't get rid of it.As,the 7days passed on,I activate my I'd and the process went on till the day I answered my first question on Quora.Trust me,Quora is the only place which can enhance your reading and writing skills and help you to get rid of such addiction.I am not using Facebook properly from last one year,it has been more than three months,my Facebook I'd is deactivated.I started focussing on my day routine instead of always available in social sites.I am suggesting few ways to get rid of it…Deactivate your I'd and don't think about your messages ,notification and requests.Focus on your daily routine.Use Quora in free times.Try to read books(other than your profession).

How do I overcome a Facebook addiction? I am also addicted to porn and masturbate 2-3 times a day. This is killing my productivity and my career.

As pro-masturbation as I am, as you’ll see in many of my past posts, I do not believe that a person should masturbate any time they get a impulse to do so, since there is a time and place for everything. Wisdom is knowing the whens and wheres of these things. If masturbation is harming your productivity and career, YES you should learn to control it, even if you have to find a counselor, preferably a behavioral or cognitive behavioral counselor, to help you overcome this. Find a local counselor that can help you and if possible one that uses behavioral techniques. Do not go to a person who will start talking about your potty training and early infancy and want to keep you as a patient for 20 years working out each and every little incident in your life. Those people just milk you for money and you’ll be putting their kids through medical school. Go to one who will teach you methods of learning self control and discipline. It will be difficult. You’ve been letting your penis control your life, and the stupid thing HAS NO BRAINS. Trust me on this, I’m speaking from personal experience. The part of you with the brain needs to be in control, and it will take time and practice wresting control from your crotch. Believe me. I know. Once a penis has been in charge for a while, the little bastard does not want to give it up. You got to practice saying NO to the thing. You got to practice, over and over, diverting your mind from your crotch and towards something else. Masturbation should be fun and enjoyable, NOT an addiction. It should NOT make your life miserable and make you feel foolish and stupid! It should NOT make you feel ashamed and lower your self esteem. In all that, I actually agree with the anti masturbation, “No Fap” people. I don’t think that never doing it is the complete answer, but your penis should not run your life.

Help! I think I'm addicted to Facebook!?

There are many people that this happens to. This is the down side of FB. You need to get off FB for a while. Deactivate your account for a while, give your laptop to your parents for a week, take the internet off your phone. Get out and do other bits, talking to real people is so much better than talking to a screen. Then after a week, go back on, but only limit yourself to 1 hour a day. And no more. You have ot be tough on yourself. As its only you that can break this Habit. And that's what it is, its a habit, not an addiction. And it can be got over. You know you should not be doing it, it just needs to be put into action.

My dad is addicted to facebook, I don't know what to do?

Ever since my dad got a facebook to promote his side business (he was working for expedia and trying to get people to book travel vacations through him) but ever since then he's always on facebook all the damn time and I'm not over exaggerating. When he wakes up early around 5:00 or so in the morning cause he drives me to school and my mom to work, he's already on the computer checking facebook. So he starts off on facebook at 5 in the morning then logs out of it at 10pm or little earlier. Point is, he spends ALL his freetime on the computer now. He tells me how he's been buying and selling people on it and how he's worth a trillion dollars or something on there but I don't care about that cause I'm 16 years old and I have a facebook but I hardly go on it anymore cause seriously, its nothing to be addicted about. There is a computer downstairs and I have a computer in my room. He has like 5 accounts so he's on one account on the downstairs computer then he uses the computer in my room to go log onto another one of his accounts. One time he told me to wait 5 minutes to log off his account cause he was going to do something on his other account that was logged on downstairs. So when he went downstairs I browsed through his facebook and looked at his messages and he was talking to this one woman saying "I love you and miss you sweetie" with a heart and the other woman would say the same thing back to him. She would tell him that she gets home in 2 hours and I don't know what to do or if I should tell my mom. Or maybe ask her why she thinks he is on facebook so much? He says facebook is just facebook and whatever he does on there or the games he plays on there is strictly just facebook but from the looks of it and what he says to people in messages, it doesn't seem like it's "just facebook." Anyway I'm really worried about my dad and I don't know what to think about him anymore. Any advice?
